Protection against fire hazard
During welding, there may be an increased risk of fire due to the high temperature of the
arc and flying molten metal spatter. Keep the workplace free of highly flammable and
combustible materials at all times. Never weld in areas with flammable atmospheres.
Always provide a suitable, immediately usable extinguishing agent (fire extinguisher or fire
blanket) when working in the vicinity of fire-hazardous locations and set up a fire watch
after welding. In companies, a welding permit may have to be obtained. Please also
observe all statutory regulations of the employers' liability insurance associations on
accident prevention, such as BGV D1 (formerly VBG 15).
Accident prevention
For welding with the inverter welder, the accident prevention regulations of the trade
association for precision mechanics and electrical engineering BGR 500 chapter 2.26
"Welding, cutting and allied processes" apply. The regulations contained therein must be
observed for a safe and proper procedure during all welding work.
Welded joints that have to withstand high loads and meet certain safety criteria may only
be performed by trained and certified welders.
Duty cycle (ED)
The duty cycle is specified in accordance with EN 60974-1/ VDE 0544 Part 10 in a 10-
minute duty cycle. This means, for example, at 60% ED, that after 6 minutes of welding, a
cooling phase of 4 minutes must take place. In most cases, this rest phase is already given
by changing the electrode or other work accompanying the welding. If the unit is
overheated, the automatic thermo switch switches off the welding function and protects
the power components from overheating. In this case, the thermal load indicator lights up
permanently. Please do not switch the unit off then, but leave it switched on so that the
built-in fan cools down the components as quickly as possible. Once this has been done,
the unit automatically switches back to welding standby and the thermal load display goes
out.
Note: The ED values apply to ambient temperatures of up to 40°C and an installation
altitude of up to 1000 m above sea level. Higher temperatures and altitudes reduce the
duty cycle.
Power supply/commissioning
Installation of the unit
The installation room should be dry and free of large amounts of dust (humidity up to 50%
at 40°C, up to 90% at 20°C). Do not use the device in rooms with metallic dust particles in
the air which can conduct electricity. Use air filters in dusty environments.
Please set up the device in such a way that the inlet and outlet openings for the cooling air
flow are free (minimum distance to the wall 80 cm). The air inlet temperature must not
fall below -10 ° C and must not be higher than +40 °C.
Evaluation of the working environment
Take into account possible sources of electromagnetic interference in the environment:
- power supply lines, control lines, telecommunication and other signal lines in the
immediate vicinity of the welding device
