4. Safety directives

4.1 General safety instructions

Read the operating instructions care-
fully before placing in service and
keep them in a safe place.
Use this power tool with particular caution.
1. Disregarding the safety instructions can result in life-
threatening hazard. Also comply with the accident pre-
vention measures of the Employers Liability Insurance
Association.
2. Have the sales person demonstrate and explain safe
operating procedures when working with such a power
tool for the first time.
3. The power tool may only be implemented in the desig-
nated application area and only for the specified applica-
tion purpose listed under chapter 8 "Using".
4. Children and young people under 18 years may not
work with this power tool, with the exception of young
people over 16 years of age who are being trained under
supervision.
5. Keep bystanders and animals away from the working
area (Fig. 2). Maintain a minimum distance of 15 m. When
working near thickets, be aware that children and animals
may be hidden there. Immediately stop the machine and
the cutter if any person or animal comes close to the
working area.
6.The user is responsible for hazards or accidents that
arise relative to other people and their property.
7.This power tool may only be loaned or forwarded on to
people that are familiar with this type of equipment and
its operation. Always provide these operating instructions
along with the machine in these situations.
8.You should be in good mental and physical condition
when you work with this device, this means you should be
relaxed and healthy.
9.This device may not be operated if the operator is under
the influence of alcohol, drugs, medicine that can impair
his/her reaction capability.
10.The power tool may only be operated in an operation-
ally safe condition - accident hazard! To avoid starting the
motor unintentionally, always place the stop switch on „0" if
the blower cover is open and remove the sparkplug connec-
tor before reaching into the device - even for cleaning.
10.b. Always stop the engine and remove the spark plug
cap when changing cutters to prevent unintentional
starting of the engine. 10.c. Always use the appropriate
touch protection with each cutter. 10.d. When using a
Line head, never replace a plastic line with a steel line.
11.Do not alter the existing safety fixtures and operating elements.
12.Only those accessories and attachments may be used
that have been supplied by the manufacturer and that are
expressly approved for attachment.
13.Dependable operation and the safety of your device also depend
on the quality of the replacement parts used. Only use original replace-
ment parts. Only original parts are produced with the manufacturing
processes of the device and thus guarantee the highest possible quality
of material, dimensional integrity, function and safety. Original
replacement and accessory parts are available from your dealer. He also
has all the requisite replacement part lists to identify the necessary
replacement part numbers, and he is constantly updated with detail
improvements and innovations in our replacement part offering.
Please note as well that guarantee performances are not possible if
non-original replacement parts are used.
14.When this device is not being used, it must be stored in
such a manner, that no one is endangered. The motor
must be turned off.
15.The person who disregards these operating or mainte-
nance instructions is also liable for all resulting damages
and consequential damages.

4.2 Work clothing

1. To prevent injuries, always wear appropriate clothing
and safety equipment when working with this motorised
equipment.
2.This clothing should be practically oriented to the
application, (for example a tight fitting work suit) but
should not be confining.
3. Never wear a scarf, a tie, jewellery or other items of
clothing, which might get caught in the equipment, in
brush or on branches. Safely tie back long hair (use a cap,
helmet or similar).
4.Wear sturdy shoes with a good tread - ideally safety shoes.
Wear protective gloves with non-slip palms.
Use personal hearing protection, and or a face
protector for protection against flying objects or
objects caught up in the turbulence (protective
goggles for example).
Wear a helmet in high brush areas.

4.3 Refueling

Handling fuel requires care and consci-
entious behavior. You must observe
the safety directives!
