4.3.2 Installation of
Microhematocrit Rotors
The rotors and accessories have a limited service life.
– Please perform regular checks (at least once per month) for safety reasons!
– Pay special attention to changes, such as corrosion, cracks, material abrasion etc.
After 7 years, they must be inspected by the manufacturer.
After 50.000 cycles, the rotor must be scrapped for reasons of safety.
If other data concerning the service life are engraved on the rotor,
these data shall apply accordingly!
1. Put rotor into centrifuge and tighten properly.
2. Close one end of the blood-filled capillary tubes by melting or use sealing putty.
3. Put capillary tubes into the microhematocrit rotor with closed end against the
rubber ring. Attention! The capillary tubes have to be close to the rubber ring.
Always load opposite places to ensure well-balanced loading.
4. Put snap-on lid onto rotor and lock.
5. Close centrifuge lid.
6. Start centrifuge run. Preselect speed 13 000 rpm, gravitational field 11 903 + g,
time approx. 5 minutes.
– After the centrifuge run the lid will automatically open. Unlock snap-on lid of
rotor and remove lid.
7. Place reader onto rotor.
– Adjust the 0-point and the maximum liquid point of the capillary tubes
by turning the reader and precise adjustment via the central eccentric.
The % value can be read.
8. Single capillaries can also be read external to the centrifuge using the reader card.
9. Remove capillary tubes from the rotor.
– In the event of pollution by e.g. glass breakage the rotor has to be removed
and rotor and chamber have to be cleaned.
– In the event of wear or glass breakage the rubber ring has to be replaced,
part no. BBI-8587795 for rotor BBI-8583501.
