Safety instructions
The manometers themselves do not require monitoring, but routine tests may
be performed by competent personnel (bP) if necessary, as per §10 of the
European Health and Safety at Work Act (BetrSichV).
Recalibration and repair
If you return the transducer to HBM for calibration or repair, please state which
pressure medium has been used. Residual medium can always be trapped in
the measurement aperture. We require this information so that we can take
appropriate action and choose the correct cleaning agent, where necessary. If
we do not know which media are used, we may have to refuse to perform
calibration or repair.
Residual dangers
The scope of supply and performance of the transducer covers only a small
area of measurement technology. In addition, plant planners, equippers and
plant operators are responsible for planning and implementing pressure
measurement systems in such a way as to minimize residual risks. On-site
regulations must be complied with at all times. Residual dangers associated
with pressure measurement technology must be pointed out.
Although the transducer is designed for maximum safety, safety engineering
regulations demand that burst protection is implemented around the
transducer. This is particularly important for frequent or dynamic loading.
The transducer must be protected against mechanical stresses or knocks. The
steel of the sensor only remains strong if temperatures always remain within
the limits stated in the data sheet. If these temperature limits are exceeded,
e.g. in the event of fire, the transducer will be unusable.
If the zero signal changes by more than 5 % during operation (with no change
in the ambient conditions), the user must check the transducer to make sure it
is not overloaded (causing the transducer characteristic to change).
