ELECTRICAL CONNECTION

8.1

General information

With extension cables, make sure that there is a proper connection with minimum con­
tact resistance and good insulation.
S
All cable plug connections or swivel nuts must be properly connected.
Important
Transducer connection cables from HBK with fitted plugs are marked in accordance with
their intended purpose. When cables are shortened, inserted into cable ducts or installed in
control cabinets, this marking can be lost or hidden. Mark the cables before laying them in
this case.
8.2

EMC protection

Important
Transducers are EMC-tested in accordance with EC directives and marked with CE certifi­
cation. However, you must connect the shield of the connection cable on the shielding
electronics enclosure in order to achieve EMC protection for the measuring chain.
8.2.1

Notes on installation

The product is exclusively manufactured and intended for further processing by compa­
nies or persons with expertise in the sector of electromagnetic compatibility (EMC). Rele­
vant EMC protection aims are met with regard to the offered product when the following
installation notes are observed and implemented.

It is essential to refer to the information and notices in the operating manual and the
data sheet.

Connecting cables, especially measuring leads and control circuits, must be shielded
S
Make sure that the transducer and the shield are extensively grounded
S
Ensure that the environment is interference-free, avoid radiated noise
S
Devices connected to this product must meet the EMC protection aims for equipment
in accordance with EC directives or equivalent national legislation.
8.2.2

Notes on cabling

The optional transducer connection cables (K-KAB-M/1-KAB146-6) have color-coded free
wire ends or corresponding connectors. The cable shield is connected in accordance with
the Greenline concept. Connections cables with free ends must be fitted with CE norm
connectors. The shielding must be connected extensively. With other connection tech­
