WARNING
If the strain cylinder is overloaded eccentrically (extremely inclined force appli
cation, force application point very far outside of center) there is a risk that due
to one-sided compression of the cylinder the resulting horizontal forces (forces
applied perpendicular to the measurement direction of the KDB) will exceed the
friction forces resulting from the force applied in the measurement direction.
This could cause the strain cylinder to suddenly shoot out of the test chamber.

General installation guidelines

If the sensor is used as a reference sensor, the forces being measured must
act on the transducer precisely in the measurement direction. Torques and
bending moments, eccentric loading and lateral forces may produce measure
ment errors and destroy the transducer if limit values are exceeded. We
recommend using load button 1-C6A/500T/ZL for measurements of this type.
When used as a strain cylinder to check concrete testing machines in ac
cordance with EN12390, the sensor must be installed in the testing machine as
specified in this standard. HBM recommends dealing with this standard before
using the KDB.
7.3
Using the KDB with pressure plates
(included in the scope of supply)
Pressure plates are suitable for reducing the surface pressure to less than
200 N/mm² with a load of 2MN. This meets the requirements of EN 12390.
Place the pressure plates on the transducer to do this. There are two centering
bores on the two load applications of the sensor. Two corresponding centering
pins are included with delivery.
