DURABILITY
The tube is designed to have a durability of up to 6 months. The lifespan depends on
various factors, including gastric pH value, patient motility and tube care.
Premature replacement of the Flocare® DirectPEG will be necessary if:
• the blocking valve of the tube is damaged, resulting in the loss of water
necessary for balloon inflation;
• the balloon has a defect resulting in the loss of water necessary for balloon inflation;
• the tube is clogged and fluids cannot be administered anymore;
• the ENFit™ connector has a defect making the administration of tube
feed and other liquids impossible.

• Damage to the material and clogging of the tube can largely be avoided
by rinsing the tube sufficiently before and after each administration of
food/liquid.
• Only administer fluids.
• Do not use any acidic liquids, e.g. cranberry juice or cola, etc. to flush the
tube. The acid content of these liquids may contribute to tube blockage
through precipitation when they come into contact with the proteins in
the nutritional products.
