PLACEMENT METHOD
• Insert the gastroscope into the stomach

and infl ate it by insuffl ation. In a darkened
room, locate the puncture site externally by
fi nger palpation and internally by positive
transillumination with the light source on
the gastroscope.
• Rule out an interposition of the other
organs through palpation of the abdominal
wall. Clearly mark the puncture site on the
outside of the abdomen.
• Thoroughly disinfect the puncture site with

disinfectant.
• Place sterile compresses around the
puncture site. Use the long cannula to
administer local anaesthetic to the skin
and all layers of the abdominal wall.
• Slowly push the cannula into the abdominal
cavity under endoscopic visualisation.
Then completely remove the cannula.
• Carry out a puncture incision (at least
3
4– 5 mm) with the scalpel at the marked
puncture site and widen it slightly if the
trocar does not slide through the tissue
without applying a large amount of
pressure.
