INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE
Preparation
It is recommended to abstain from food for approx. 8 hours prior to tube placement. The patient
should be in a supine position for placement of the Flocare® DirectPEG. Prepare the patient
using the usual procedures for endoscopy. Placement in accordance with surgical standards
is recommended. Administration of a prophylactic antibiotic is recommended. It is advised
to place the Flocare DirectPEG under mild sedation.
For placement and aftercare the following accessories are required in addition to the
Flocare® DirectPEG:
• Flexible endoscope (a standard endoscope for oral introduction may be used or a standard
endoscope with a small diameter for nasal introduction may also be used as an alternative)
• Sterile dressing material (compresses, plaster), skin disinfectant
• Syringe with local anaesthetic and long cannula (IM)
• Luer-Lock syringe (to refi ll the balloon)
• ENFit™ syringe (to fl ush the tube and to draw up gastric juice to verify the correct position)
• pH indicator paper/litmus paper (to verify the correct position)
• Stethoscope (to verify the correct position=
