PLACEMENT METHOD
• Check to ensure that the pre-assembled

trocar is properly locked to the split cannula
and remove the protective sleeve from the
trocar.
• Hold the top of the trocar fi rmly between
your index and middle fi nger and the ball
of your thumb. Carefully introduce the
split cannula with inserted trocar vertically
through the incision in the stomach by
applying gentle pressure. Perform this
under endoscopic visualisation to avoid
damaging the posterior wall of the stomach.
During insertion, the tapered tip of the
trocar will stretch the skin without cutting it.
• Unlock the trocar from the split cannula

by turning the trocar one quarter of a turn
counter-clockwise (Fig. 1).
• Remove the trocar (Fig. 2) and dispose
of it properly.
• Then advance the split cannula a bit
further into the stomach under endoscopic
visualisation. It is not necessary to create an
air-tight seal on the split cannula because it
is equipped with an air valve that performs
this function and prevents a loss of pressure
in the stomach.
• Pull the external retainer proximally to

ensure that the balloon tube can be
advanced as far as necessary through
the split cannula.
• Then connect the introducer on the
balloon tube to the split cannula (Fig. 1).
Lock both parts fi rmly together by turning
the introducer clockwise until as far as
it will go (Fig. 2).
