15. Starting the helicopter

With the helicopter and transmitter switched on and the sensors successfully calibrated, the helicopter can be started.
There are two different methods.
1) Automatic take-off
With the model helicopter in front of you, briefly press the
push-button for the take-off function (see Figure 1, no. 8).
Both rotors will start to rotate at an increasing speed until
the helicopter takes off and proceeds to ascend.
After the ascent, the model automatically reduces the mo-
tor power at an altitude of approx. 120 cm and hovers at
a constant height at one spot. The model helicopter LEDs
flash as the helicopter takes off automatically.
If the model breaks sideways when taking off, the flight
direction can be corrected using the remote control trans-
mitter according to the procedure described above.
Caution, important!
Automatic take-off can be cancelled at any
time.
All you need to do is to briefly move the joystick for the pitch and tail function (see also Figure 1, no. 11)
down as the helicopter takes off. The helicopter will then no longer ascend any further but will hover at the
current altitude.
2) Manual take-off
Move the left joystick to the bottom left corner and the right joystick to the bottom right corner (see white arrows in
Figure 16). The rotors will start to rotate.
If you now move the joystick for the pitch and tail function (see Figure 1, no. 9) up (see grey arrow in Figure 16), the
main rotor will speed up and the helicopter will take off. Once the desired flight altitude has been reached, move the
joystick for the pitch and tail function back to the middle position.
The helicopter is equipped with automatic altitude stabilisation. This stabilisation takes the air pressure
as a reference for the current flight altitude. Since the measured values c hange only slightly with minimal
change in altitude, slight fluctuations in flight altitude cannot be avoided.
