INSTRUCTION MANUAL
Climbing and mountaineering are dangerous activities. The following advice does
not remove the risks associated with these activities. The manufacturer does not
accept any responsibility in the event of any abuse and/or improper use of this
product. The user is responsible for their own actions and decisions while partici-
pating in these activities.
1) FIELD OF APPLICATION
This product is a dynamic rope and is designed for use during climbing and
mountaineering. Its use should limit the impact force of a person from falling during
climbing or mountaineering activities. This product should be used by individuals
who have undergone instruction and/or are competent, if not then the user should
be supervised by a person who has undergone relevant instruction or is com-
petent. The various safety components (harness, karabiner, slings, descenders,
anchor points) should be chosen which conform to European standards and/or
EU certified and adapted to the diameter of the rope. Fine ropes may require a
special security device. The rope is your personal equipment. It may suffer invisible
damage during your absence. For best use of the product, when the rope is being
used in a group, we would advise you to name one user or one person who is
solely responsible for each product.
2) WARNINGS.
Before and during use, think about the necessary steps to take for a quick and
effective rescue.
Check that your karabiners or other equipment do not have any burrs and/or
other deteriorations.
A "figure of eight" knot is recommended for the rope attachment.
Before abseiling or top-roping, check the length of the rope. For extra precautions,
make a knot at the end of the rope.
Use a karabiner or a quick line for abseiling or top-roping. Do not place the rope
around a branch, on a quickdraw, through the eye of a piton or directly in a
belaying device.
Very quick descents or top-roping should be avoided; they speed up wear and
tear and could burn the rope. The maximum acceptable usage temperature is
80°C for a short period of time.
The rope should not be allowed to come into contact with corrosive or aggressive
substances or chemical agents (acids, oils, petrol) which could destroy the fibres
without it even being visible.
Diameter warning: Refer to numbers indicated on the product labelling.
Shrinkage warning: No matter how the rope was constructed, its use may result in
a reduction of its initial length to varying degrees.
3) MOUNTAIN
The rope should be protected from sharp ridges, falling rocks, being struck by pick
axes or crampons which could seriously damage the fibres.
If the rope has been wet, it loses resistance and becomes much more sensitive to
abrasion. Take extra precautions.
4) CLIMBING
Overlapping two ropes in a karabiner or a link can cause it to break.
A rope back will protect your rope from dust, diminishes the risk of scrapes and
aids transportation.
Making a habit of attaching the bottom of the rope to the inside of the rope bag
is an extra safety measure for use during top-roping.
5) MEANINGS OF MARKINGS
Types or rope:
Single ropes: can be used as a single strand as a link between the climber and
1
the belayer. Mountain ad cliff activities, indoor, etc.
Double ropes: Separate karabiner for each possible strand enables best results
in the mountain, on long routes and for ice climbing, etc.
Twin ropes: It is necessary to karabiner the two strands at each safety point. For
use in the mountains or for ice climbing.
Length: rope length in metres. CE: dynamic rope which has been examined under
the standard mentioned and according to regulation 2016/425.
EN 892:2012+A1:2016: dynamic rope standard which refers to the EU type
examination.
Pictogram preceding month (MM) and year (YYYY) of manufacture.
UIAA: conformity with the Union des Associations d'Alpinisme.
0333: body responsible for quality monitoring - AFAQ AFNOR 11 rue Francis de
Pressensé - 93571 LA PLAINE SAINT DENIS CEDEX.
0082: Notified body which carried out the EU type examination; Apave
SudEurope SAS - CS60193 - 13222 Marseille cedex 16 - France.
6) TRACEABILITY
N° Unique Identification: Allows you to follow the chain of production and find all
the features of the rope. The ropes are supplied, no matter what their presentation,
with a user guide, a product label and end labels on which regulatory information
is provided. For their safety, or in case of a rope being cut into several lengths, it
is the responsibility of the user to guarantee the presence of the relevant markings

at each end of the rope.

7) MAINTENANCE AND STORAGE

The service life of the product depends on the frequency and type of use. Use of
the rope with mechanical devices, friction, UV rays, humidity will speed up wear
and tear. It may suffer irreparable damage from its first use. Duration of storage:
Before use, these products can be stored for up to 5 years in good conditions.
8) DURATION OF USE
Intensive use: 3 months to 1 year.
Average use: 2 to 3 years.
Regular but light use: 4 to 5 years.
Infrequent use: 10 years (maximum duration of use).
9) SERVICE LIFE
= duration of storage before 1st use + duration of use.
Before and after each use, manually and visually check the general condition of
the rope. Replace the rope as quickly as possible after a serious fall or as soon as
signs of deterioration appear.
Do not stand on your rope.
Wash only with clear, cold water (using soap and washing in a washing machine
is possible but only without detergent).
The main action of washing a rope is mechanical. The movement of the rope in
the water will allow the mineral micro-particles to be released from the structure
of the fibres.
Store in the shade and away from humidity, frost, UV rays and away from all heat
sources that could affect the integrity of the rope.
If the rope is damp, do not store in an air-tight container or a rope bag.
To dry the rope properly it should be uncoiled and hung, without any parts cross-
ing, in a well ventilated and shady place, away from UV or frost.
10) GUARANTEE
All of our ropes and guaranteed for 3 years against all manufacturing faults. This
guarantee obviously excludes normal wear and tear of the rope or any problems
as a result of poor storage or maintenance. The Climbing Technology guarantee
also excludes all damage to the rope resulting from use for any other purpose than
for climbing, mountaineering or rope access work.
Regulation (EU) 2016/425: Reference to the PPE regulation.
