10.2. Cleaning and Maintenance

For hygienic reasons, the SOLID
VALVE component parts (Valve Bal-
loon with Mouthpiece and Filling
Chamber) should be cleaned at least
once every two weeks. To prevent
any transfer of infectious germs, the
Valve Balloon and Mouthpiece should
be used only by one person, and not
shared by multiple individuals. The
component parts should be cleaned
regularly to guarantee proper function-
ing and a clean taste. For hygienic rea-
sons, a thorough cleaning is required
whenever the SOLID VALVE is to be
used by another individual.
The Balloon should be replaced when-
ever the Valve is cleaned. For manual
cleaning use rubbing alcohol with pa-
per or cotton towels or dishwashing
liquid with warm water.

The Mouthpiece, Valve and Filling
Chamber are easily disassembled
within seconds for cleaning. The
component parts of the Mouthpiece,
Valve and Filling Chamber may also be
cleaned in a dishwasher. The Screens
and the component parts of the Filling
Chamber Insert are too small for that
and might get lost in a dishwasher. Be-
fore assembling allow all component
parts to dry properly.
Do not immerse any plastic
components in ethanol or al-
cohol for longer than an hour.
Extended contact with ethanol or alco-
hol may lead to discoloration or em-
brittlement of plastic parts.
After cleaning, check all component
parts for surface damage, tears, soft-
ening or hardening, impurities, distor-
tion and discoloration and set dam-
aged component parts aside.
Disassembling the Mouthpiece
Pull off the Lip Piece from the Mouth-
piece Cylinder and remove the Cylin-
der from the Mouthpiece Housing.
