Assembly without adapter

If you use the force transducer version without an adapter, it is screwed onto
an existing structural element with the outer pitch, see Fig. 7.2. The other side
of the force application is implemented via the central thread of the
U10M/U10S. Please read Section 7.3, or when using a knuckle eye Section
7.4, and mount accordingly.
With this method of installation, transducers can measure forces in both tensile
and pressure directions. Alternating loads are also correctly recorded if the
transducer is mounted without axial play. The transducer can be used without
restrictions with the full oscillation bandwidth.
Installation is facilitated by centering aids at the top and bottom of the trans­
ducer. The admissible centering depth on the bottom is equivalent to dimen­
sion Z (see Page 49). In order to transfer the lateral forces specified in the data
sheet, we recommend using the centering aids.
The customer's own structural elements (contact
surfaces) must meet the following conditions:
S They must be in parallel to each other.
S They must be paint-free.
S They must be oil and grease-free, cleaning can be implemented e.g. with
RMS-1 (HBM ordering number 1-RMS1).
S They must be sufficiently hard (minimum HRC 40).
S They must be sufficiently stiff so that they do not flex.
S The flatness of the contact surface is ideal when a tolerance of 0.005 mm is
not exceeded under load.
S The screws used must comply with the property class specified in the fol­
lowing table and tightened with the specified tightening torque. The
threaded holes must be sufficiently stable to allow bolts of the specified
property classes to be used.
