Connecting the extension to the neurostimulator
The warnings and cautions in this section cite hazards that may require a surgical revision
or replacement.
Warning: Use only the white torque wrench packaged in the neurostimulator kit. Use
of another torque wrench, for example, a blue torque wrench, will not effectively
tighten the setscrews. This can cause inadequate electrical contact between the
neurostimulator and extension. Malfunctioning components may cause inadequate
stimulation.
Caution: Be sure the torque wrench is properly inserted into the self-sealing
grommet. If the torque wrench is not properly inserted, the grommet may be
damaged, resulting in inadequate stimulation.
Caution: Do not submerge the neurostimulator in fluid. Fluids in the connection may
result in stimulation at the connection site or intermittent stimulation.
Caution: Before connecting components, wipe off any body fluids and dry all
connections. Fluids in the connection may result in stimulation at the connection site
or intermittent stimulation.
