3. Intended use

Device tester for safety testing of portable/mobile electrical devices and equipment
• Testing of electrical devices in accordance with DIN VDE 0701-0702, DGUV Regulation 3, ÖVE/ÖNORM E 8701,
NEN 3140
• Testing of cable drums, extension cables, multi-distributors and IEC power cables
• Testing of three-phase electrical devices with the aid of optional measurement adapters
• Tripping time measurement of permanently installed RCCB/RCD and portable RCCB/PRCD circuit breakers
• Voltage measurement at external earthed sockets
• Measuring and displaying electrical values in the range of measurement category CAT II up to max. 300 V against
earth potential, pursuant to EN 61010-1. The measurement device must not be used in measurement category
CAT III and CAT IV.
The individual measurement functions are selected via buttons.
The measurement device is powered by two standard 1.5 V AA or LR06 batteries. Only use batteries of the specified
type. Do not use 1.2 V rechargeable batteries. An automatic shut-off prevents premature depletion of the batteries if
the device is not operated for an extended period of time.
An integrated lithium battery (CR2032) buffers the internal real-time clock and the data memory for when the batteries
are replaced.
The device must not be operated when it is open, i.e. with an open battery compartment or when the battery compart-
ment cover is missing.
The device may only be connected to single-phase power supply grids operating at 230 V~, 50 Hz and with an
upstream fuse of 16 A. Do not exceed the maximum switching capacity/lamp load of the tester's test socket (see
Technical data). Exceeding the values can cause the fuses to trip and lead to damage to the device tester. Damage
caused by overload is excluded from possible warranty claims.
No repeated protective conductor or contact current measurements with a measurement duration of 2x 5 minutes may
be carried out on test objects with high current consumption (16 A). Repeated measurements at maximum load (16 A)
can cause the device to heat up to an exceptional level.
Measurements of the protective conductor resistance and the insulation resistance may only be carried out on un-
loaded system parts.
Do not take measurements in potentially explosive areas, damp rooms or adverse conditions. Adverse conditions
include: Moisture or high humidity, dust and flammable gases, vapours or solvents, thunderstorms and strong elec-
tromagnetic fields.
For safety reasons, only use test leads or accessories that match the device specifications.
These instructions are intended for electrical professionals and qualified persons who have been trained in electrical
engineering. The device must only be used by people who are familiar with the relevant regulations and understand
the potential hazards.
This product is not intended to be used by people (including children) with impaired physical, sensory or mental
capabilities or lack of experience and/or lack of knowledge. The use of measurement devices must be supervised by
trained personnel.
