but without connecting the mains supply cable.

Note for measuring the contact current!
Accessible conductive parts that are not connected to the protective conductor must be tested as outlined
in Section 9b). To measure the contact current (direct measurement method), the GT-6000 must be oper-
ated with a mains voltage of 230 V AC. When measuring contact current using the direct measurement
method, no part of the test object must be connected to the earth potential. The test object must be placed
on an insulated surface. Otherwise, there is a risk of leakage currents to earth influencing the result of the
measurement.
b) Testing devices of protection class 2 (insulated) and devices of protection
class 3 (safety low-voltage)
• Testing of devices without protective conductor and with touchable conductive parts.
• Connect the test object to the test socket (1) on the GT-6000.
• Use the test lead with alligator clip to establish a connection be-
tween the 4 mm test socket (9) and a touchable metal part of the
test object.
• For mains operation (contact current by means of the direct meas-
urement method, test object in operation), connect the mains cable
with the in-built connector (11) on the GT-6000 and the safety plug
to an earthed socket (230 V, 50 Hz, 16 A).
