5.3 ADDITIONAL FITTINGS FOR EMD 400
The system pressure has to be released before installation begins. Depending on the
gas type, residual gases in the pipes must be let off safely. Danger of fire, explosion or
poisoning!
The following additional fittings can be mounted on the back pressure side of the EMD 400 bleed
pressure reducer:
Control valve MVR 400 W, flame arresters FS 400, volumeter MM 400, manometer (see accessories,
page 16 /5.0), screw connections (see accessories, page 16 / 3.1), hose nozzles (see accessories, page
16 / 3.2), screw plugs (see accessories, pages 16 / 2.3 and 3.3).
EN
The manometer is fitted in the factory with the measuring range conforming to the back pressure
range of the pressure reducer.
Normally, the bleed pressure reducer is already assembled with the additional fittings you request
before it leaves the factory. However, retrofitting or modification is possible with simple tools at any
time.
There are three mounting positions for mounting output-side additional fittings. These are on the
periphery of the pressure reducer above, right and below and at an angle of 90° to each other.
5.3.1 MOUNTING ADDITIONAL FITTINGS
The mounting of additional fittings differs between fittings with a fixed mounting position
manometer, volumeter and control valve) and those without a fixed mounting position (flame trap,
threaded clamping ring joint and hose nozzle.
In principle, additional fittings can be mounted at any of the three mounting positions.
The manometer is normally fitted on the top, the control valve usually on the right (or below) and
the volumeter on the right. The threaded clamping ring joint, the flame trap and the hose nozzle
are usually fitted below. The unused gas outlet holes must first be closed up with a screw plug (3.3)
G 1/4" ES.
The following tools are needed for mounting the various additional fittings:
Open-end wrench: SW 14, SW 19, SW 22, Hexagon socket head wrench: SW 7
5.3.2 FITTING THE THREADED CLAMPING RING JOINT OR HOSE NOZZLE
Seal G 1/4": 11,2 x 5,5 x 1,5 mm.
Remove the dummy threaded joint on the intended mounting point of the bleed pressure reducer.
The threaded clamping ring joint or hose nozzle is usally fitted underneath.
Insert the seal into the intended connection on the pressure reducer and screw the threaded
clamping ring joint or hose nozzle by hand until tight.
Tighten the threaded clamping ring joint or the hose nozzle using the open-end wrench (approx.
¼ revolution).
Seal the free connections of the pressure reducer with a seal and a G 1/4" screw plug so that they
are gas-tight.
5.3.3 FITTING THE SCREWED SEALING PLUG
Seal G 1/4": 11,2 x 5,5 x 1,5 mm.
Close up the free connections of the pressure reducer with a seal and a G 1/4" screw plug so that
they are gas-tight.
