warning may have severe effects on health through to life-threatening injury.
This symbol indicates a possibly dangerous situation. Non-observance of this warning may
have severe effects on health up to slight injury or lead to material damage.
This symbol indicates important information for proper procedure when using the pressure unit
and gives application tips and particularly useful information. Nonobservance of this information
can lead to malfunctions of the pressure vessel or in the environment. Application tips will help you
make optimal use of all functions on your pressure unit.
3.8 ORGANISATIONAL MEASURES
•
The necessary personal protective equipment is to be provided by the owner.
•
All available safety equipment must be checked at regular intervals.
•
If there is a lack of oxygen or the concentration of noxious substances is too high, breathing
apparatus independent of the ambient atmosphere is required (VBG 1)..
3.9 PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT
•
All safety equipment must be properly fitted and operative before the pressure unit is started
up.
•
Protective devices and safety equipment may only be removed after the pressure unit or
system has been shut down and secured against being started up again.
•
If part components are delivered, the safety equipment must be fitted by the owner in
accordance with regulations.
3.10 SAFETY MEASURES IN NORMAL OPERATION
•
Before switching the pressure unit on, ensure that no-one can be put in danger through the
starting up of the pressure unit.
•
Check the safety equipment on the pressure unit for tightness and reliability at least once
a year.
3.11 DANGERS POSED BY PRESSURE ENERGY
•
Before beginning repair work, make all system sections and pressure pipes depressurized.
•
Check flexible hose lines at reasonable intervals of time and replace even if no safety
related defects are visible.
•
External actions such as high temperatures, radiated heat, jolts and the like could cause
compressed-gas bottles or parts of the system under pressure to heat up or to burst. Please
take the corresponding precautionary and safety measures.
3.12 PARTICULAR DANGERS POSED BY LEAKAGE OUT
•
The use of very dangerous or less dangerous gases could put the life and limb of the user
at risk if the pressure unit is leaking.
•
For this reason, operating instructions and an accident code of practice with notes for the
doctor must be kept in an appropriate place.
•
The operators must be instructed in the particular dangers of gas and possible personal and
other protective measures.
3.13 INFORMATION ON SPECIAL TYPES OF GAS
•
All parts coming into contact with oxygen must be absolutely free of oil and grease. Danger
of fire and explosion!
•
Use only lubricants which are permitted for oxygen.
•
In the case of acetylene, do not use pipe lines or other plant parts made from copper! Note
the particular potential for danger of acetylene!
3.14 ESCAPE OF HARMFUL GASES AND VAPOURS
•
Harmful gases and vapours can escape if safety equipment is open or in the event of
malfunctions (see above). Ensure sufficient ventilation or extraction.
•
With dangerous media, take the corresponding precautionary action (see laws, ordinances,
etc.)
