This step downwards is concluded by pla-
cing the healthy leg on the step where the
crutches and the operated leg already are.
Lifting Objects
Keep the operated hip as straight as possib-
le. This is done by supporting yourself with
one hand, e.g. on a table, and bending the
knee of the non-operated leg while stan-
ding. During this process move the opera-
ted leg backwards with your hip stretched.
This way your spare hand can easily reach
the floor. It is recommendable to use a
reacher, with which you will be able to
pick up light objects from the floor without
bending down.
Carrying
Avoid lifting and carrying loads weighing
more than 20% of your own body!
Getting Dressed
Use dressing aids for socks and trousers
in order to avoid excessive flexing.
and Undressed
Shoes
Wear sturdy shoes without shoelaces or
lace-up shoes with elastic shoelaces as
often as possible. Use a long shoehorn to
put your shoes on.
