the average performance life can be expec-
ted in the future.
The post-hospitalisation period needs to be
planned soon after the operation. Discuss
your domestic environment with a phy-
siotherapist or ergotherapist while still in
hospital. Consider also the various kinds of
secondary treatment available (rehabilitation
measures).
Insist on receiving the secondary treatment
concepts in writing before leaving the hos-
pital. Don't leave the hospital before you
have held a detailed closing meeting with
your operating physician and your physio-
therapist.
After discharge from the hospital, keep on
your anti-thrombosis stockings until you can
start to put weight on your leg again.
Should you encounter pain in the calf or
swelling of the lower leg or foot, please see
your doctor immediately (danger of throm-
bosis!).
