In case of vague or, particularly, incre-
8
asing pain in the area of the artificial
joint as the joint is subjected to strain,
you should immediately go to see the
attending physician!
Even if you don't seem to have any
9
significant complaints, you should have
your artificial joint examined once a year
by your physician!
Carry your endoprosthesis ID, just like an
10
accident ID, with you at all times (espe-
cially on flights due to the safety checks at
airports)!
In your daily life you undertake a wide varie-
ty of movements.
Some are helpful for building up your mu-
scles and keeping up your mobility; others
should be avoided with regard to maintai-
ning the service life of the joint for as long
as possible and to preventing complications
such as luxations.
The following advice should be categorically
adhered to for the first months at home:
• No hip flexion beyond 90°
• No splaying out of the operated leg bey-
ond the body's middle line
• No pronounced turns of the hip joint to
the inside or outside
