10. Adjustment options on the vehicle

a) Setting the camber

The camber is the inclination of the wheel level as viewed from the front (vertical).
Negative camber
(Upper wheel edge points inwards)
The alignment of the wheels is exaggerated in the two diagrams to show the difference between negative
and positive camber. Obviously, such an extreme adjustment should not be made to the model vehicle!
• A negative camber on the front wheels increases the lateral forces on the tyres when cornering, the steering is more
reactive, the steering forces are reduced. At the same time the wheel is pushed onto the axle leg in the direction of
the axis. This offsets axial bearing clearance, the driving behaviour is smoother.
• A negative camber on the rear wheels reduces the tendency of the rear of the vehicle to swing when cornering.
• In contrast, setting a positive camber reduces the cornering force on the tyres and should generally not be used.
Setting the front axle wheel camber:
The wheel camber is adjusted by turning the screw (A) on
the upper suspension arm.
A suitable open-ended spanner can be used to turn the
screw (not included).
Because this screw has a left and right-hand thread, the
suspension arm does not have to be disassembled to set
the wheel camber.
Setting the rear axle wheel camber:
The vehicle has a rigid axle, the camber is not adjustable.
