3. Temperature*
- Nothing appears in the temperature display (43)
Possible Causes
Miscellaneous Malfunctions
- The shelf temperature that has been set is too high.
- The RTD connections are not OK,
- An RTD is defective.
Elimination of Failures
- Check the shelf temperature setting and reduce it if neces-
sary.
- Check the RTD connections (55). They could be inter-
changed.
- Replace the RTD (31).
- The shelves (8) are not heated - The chamber pressure is higher than P
mM
= 6 mbar.
- The heating cable (54) of the basic unit does not have
proper electric contact with the intermediate ring (4)
- The plugs of the heatable shelves do not have proper elec-
tric contact with the sockets of the intermediate ring (4)
- Fuse Fl (T 1.0 A) and/or fuse F2 (T 5.0 A) have cut out.
- The RTD (31) for the temperature regulation has not been
connected.
- The temperature that has been set is too low.

Plug in the heating cable (54) properly to the inter-
mediate ring (4).
Check the plug connection.
Check the fuses and replace them if necessary.
Plug in the RTD (31) into the heatable shelf and into the
leadthrough of the intermediate ring in the measuring lead
(55) marked SHELF.
Check the set temperature and correct it if necessary.
- The heat supplied is too great
(pressure rise leading to melting of the product)
4. Compressor (20)
- The condenser (19) coils are not cooled.
The RTD (31) for the pressure regulation has not been put
in the retaining borehole of the heatable shelf.
The RTD (31) for the temperature regulation is not in
contact with the measuring lead marked SHELF, but with
the line marked T2.
The set temperature that has been set is too high.
- The compressor (20) is not in operation or is defective.
- Plug in the RTD (31) into the retaining borehole of the
heatable shelf.
- Check the contacts of the RTD (31). The RTD used for
temperature regulation must be connected to the measu-
ring lead (55) marked SHELF.
- Check the set temperature and correct it if necessary.
- Check to see whether the FREEZING button (50) has
been activated.
- Check to see whether the ambient temperature around the
unit is inadmissible and whether there is sufficient venti-
lation.
