7.1 Settings example

The following two examples show you the necessary settings based on a
measurement task.
A. Force transducer
• A maximum force of 100 kN must be measured
• Selection of a force sensor with full scale value 120 kN (e.g. CFT/120 kN)
• Transducer sensitivity: 4.0 pC/N (enter in the CMD600 Assistant field:
Sensor sensitivity)
• Selected measuring range: 100 kN (enter in the CMD600 Assistant field:
Physical input range)
• Input range = 400,000 pC (is calculated automatically and set in the
CMD600)
• Output voltage at the charge amplifier = + 10 V at 100 kN
B. Force washer
• A maximum force of 100 kN must be measured
• Selection of a force sensor with full scale value 140 kN (e.g. CFW/140 kN)
• For technical reasons, the force washer must be pre-stressed with approx.
20 % of the nominal (rated) force. The pre-stressing screw results in a
force shunt. Then the sensitivity is about 7 to 9% lower. This leaves a
useful range of 0.8 x 140 = 112 kN. This results in 430,000 pC with 4.3
pC/N and a measuring range of 100 kN.
• Selected measuring range: 100 kN (enter in the CMD600 Assistant field:
Physical input range)
• Input range = 430,000 pC (enter in the CMD600 Assistant field: Electrical
input range)
• Output voltage at the charge amplifier = + 10 V at 100 kN
IMPORTANT:
The force resulting from pre-stress must be measured with the sensor itself.
The sensitivity specified in the specifications should be used. Since the
pre-stressing screw forms a force shunt, the sensor must be recalibrated after
it is installed to be able to determine the sensitivity of the measuring device
when it is ready to use.
