CONNECT THE DIP ELECTRODE

Connect the DIP Electrode connector to the "RETURN ELECTRODE" connector
found within the "ISOLATED PATIENT CONNECTIONS" area on the
Generator front panel. Gently push the DIP electrode-fitting straight in, until
firmly in place. To unplug, grasp the DIP electrode fitting and gently pull it out
from the receptacle.
Before use, it is important to check the DIP Electrode for damage to the sealed
foil package. Exposure to air, due to a damaged package, could cause the DIP
Electrode to become dry and limit its grounding capability. Be sure the pad is
moist and sticky to the touch before placing it on the patient. Do not attempt to
relocate the patient grounding pad after its initial application. Electrode gel is
NOT required and should NOT be used.
The DIP Electrode should be placed on a well-vascularized, convex skin surface.
Do not place this electrode on the thigh, since this location is associated with
higher impedance. Avoid scar tissue, bony prominence, adipose tissue, or any
areas where fluid may pool. Shave, clean, and dry the application site as needed.
Check for wrinkles or folds when applying the pad, as these will decrease
conductivity.

TURN THE GENERATOR "ON"

Turn the Generator "ON" by pressing the rocker switch located on the Generator
back panel (See Fig. 5-2A) to the "I" position. The Generator first performs a
self-test of power generation, measurement, and control circuitry, as indicated by
a constant audible tone.
READY mode, as indicated by the "SET" indicator being lit. If the self-test fails,
the Generator enters into the FAULT mode, the red "FAULT" indicator will be
illuminated, in addition, a rapid burst of audible tones will be emitted.
If the FAULT mode is entered (i.e. a system malfunction is detected during self-
test), the Generator will not operate. To clear any malfunctions found during the
self-test, the Generator must be powered "OFF" and then back "ON" with the
self-test repeated. If the Generator fails again, the Generator cannot be used
properly and Baylis Medical Company should be contacted for service. The
Generator will NOT operate unless the initial self-test has been successfully
completed.
Data Capture Option:
If a computer and recording software (an option available through Baylis Medical) are
utilized, they will enable the user to capture the measured data generated during the RF
puncture procedure. To enable the data capture option, connect the male end of the
If all is satisfactory, the Generator enters into the
