Generator through the appropriate BMC connector cable. The footswitch is an accessory to the BMC Radiofrequency Puncture Generator. The use of the Baylis Medical Radiofrequency Puncture Generator is fully described in this manual, including a description of the Generator, its controls, displays, and a sequence for its operation.
SECTION 1: DEVICE DESCRIPTION The Baylis Medical Company Radiofrequency Puncture Generator is a component of the Baylis Medical Company Radiofrequency Puncture System. The Generator is operated in conjunction with a BMC Catheter and a commercially available external Disposable Indifferent (Dispersive) Patch (DIP) Electrode that meets or exceeds ANSI/AAMI Standard HF-18 and/or ISO 60601-2-2.
SECTION 2: INDICATIONS/CONTRAINDICATIONS 2.1. INDICATIONS FOR USE The Baylis Medical Radiofrequency Puncture System is intended to create an atrial septal defect in the heart. 2.2. CONTRAINDICATIONS Usage of the Radiofrequency System is not recommended for usage other than the indicated use.
SECTION 3: WARNINGS, PRECAUTIONS, AND ADVERSE EVENTS 3.1. WARNINGS • DO NOT attempt to operate the Generator before thoroughly reading this User’s Manual. It is vital that the operating instructions for the equipment be read, understood, and followed properly. For future reference, retain this User’s Manual in a convenient, readily accessible place.
3.2. PRECAUTIONS • The Generator is intended for use with approved Catheters, Wires and accessories only. Ensure that the rated accessory voltage is equal to or greater than the Generator’s maximum output voltage. • Ensure that the catheter connector cables and dispersive electrode cables are positioned in such a way that contact with the patient or other leads is avoided.
Generator may have on the performance of other equipment. • Regularly inspect and test re-usable cables and accessories. • Baylis Medical Company relies on the physician to determine, assess, and communicate to each individual patient all foreseeable risks of the Generator.
Power Cord Read the Directions for use in Section 7 of this manual very carefully and thoroughly. If there are any discrepancies or concerns, notify Baylis Medical Company. Store the shipping carton in a safe place for future use. 4.2.

FRONT PANEL 5.2. RF ON/OFF BUTTON/LIGHT The RF ON/OFF Button/Light is shown in Figure 5-1G. This button is responsible for the three operational modes of the Generator: “READY”, “ON”, and “DONE”. 5.3. POWER • POWER DISPLAY The POWER Display is shown in Figure 5-1A. The power output is displayed in 1-Watt increments and the range is 0-25 Watts. The POWER Display is a two digit, green LED numeric display. When the generator is initially powered “ON”, the green LEDs will display the default power set point of 0 Watts.
5.4. TIME • TIME DISPLAY The TIME Display is shown in Figure 5-1E. This display is a two-digit, green LED numeric display. The TIME Display will read zero when the Generator is initially powered “ON”. The desired output duration expressed in seconds can be set by the TIME ▲/▼...
5.5. IMPEDANCE DISPLAY The IMPEDANCE Display is shown in Figure 5-1K. The IMPEDANCE Display is a four-digit, green LED numeric display. The impedance measurement range is 100-6000 ohms. The displayed value will fluctuate during impedance measurement since it is a measure of catheter-to-tissue contact. During the READY mode, the IMPEDANCE Display remains blank since impedance is only measured during the ON mode while RF output is active.
5.8. FAULT INDICATOR The FAULT Indicator is shown in Figure 5-1H. It is a red LED that indicates that a system error has occurred. The error code is displayed on the IMPEDANCE Display (Fig. 5-1K). There are three categories of error codes: error(s) during the POST mode, error(s) during the ON mode, and error(s) in the CPU Hardware self-test.

In the “DONE” mode, the RF output is OFF, the RF ON/OFF Button is not illuminated, and the audible tone is off. The Generator passes through the DONE mode as a transition from the ON mode back to the READY mode.

The Generator requires no routine service or maintenance. If the Generator fails to operate when plugged into a proper AC power receptacle and the POWER Switch (Fig. 5-2A) is turned “ON”, a fuse may have blown. Contact Baylis Medical Company. The Generator contains no user-serviceable parts. Disassembly and attempted repair by unqualified personnel may create a hazardous condition and will void the warranty.
9.2. POWER DELIVERY As an enhanced patient safety feature, both the output voltage and current of the Generator has been limited. Under normal circumstances (i.e. normal patient impedances), the maximum output power of the Generator is 25 Watts. In the event of unusually high impedance, the voltage limiting circuitry will limit maximum power.

Der Fußschalter ist als Zubehör zu dem BMC Radiofrequency Puncture Generator erhältlich. Der Gebrauch des Baylis Medical Radiofrequency Puncture Generator wird in diesem Handbuch umfassend dargestellt. Hierzu gehören auch eine Beschreibung des Generators, seiner Bedienelemente, Anzeigen und einer Betriebssequenz. Darüber hinaus erhält der Bediener weitere wichtige Informationen.
HF-Perforationsgenerator eine Komponente Hochfrequenzperforationssystems der Baylis Medical Company. Er wird in Verbindung mit einem BMC Katheter und einer im Handel erhältlichen externen passiven Patchelektrode (Einmalprodukt) verwendet. Die Elektrode muss alle Anforderungen nach ANSI/AAMI HF-18 und/oder ISO 60601-2-2 erfüllen. Im monopolaren Modus gibt der BMC Katheter zwischen der an seiner distalen Spitze angebrachten Elektrode und der passiven Patchelektrode Energie ab.

• Der Generator ist nicht mit einer Kontaktqualitätsüberwachung ausgestattet, so dass der Verlust des sicheren Kontakts zwischen der Dispersionselektrode und dem Patienten nicht zu einem akustischen Alarm führt. • Durch den HF-Ausgang können implantierte Geräte wie etwa Herzschrittmacher beeinträchtigt werden. Bei Bedarf sollte qualifizierter Rat eingeholt werden, um Verletzungen durch Fehlfunktionen implantierter Geräte zu vermeiden.
• Die in den Anweisungen zum jeweiligen Katheter spezifizierte Höchstzahl von HF-Applikationen pro Katheter sollte nicht überschritten werden. • Vor Verwendung des Baylis Medical HF-Generators muss dieses Handbuch vollständig gelesen werden. • Hochfrequenzperforationen sollten nur von Ärzten durchgeführt werden, die in der Durchführung von Hochfrequenzperforationen ausgebildet wurden.

VORDERSEITE 5.2. TASTE/LAMPE RF ON/OFF (HF EIN/AUS) Die RF ON/OFF-Taste/Lampe ist in Abbildung 5-1G gezeigt. Über diese Taste wird der Generator in eine der drei folgenden Betriebsarten geschaltet: READY (Bereit), ON (Ein) und DONE (Fertig). Die Beziehungen zwischen den Modi und die Kriterien für deren Verwendung sind in Abschnitt beschrieben 5.1.
5.3. LEISTUNG • POWER-ANZEIGE Die POWER-Anzeige ist in Abbildung 5-1A gezeigt. Der Leistungsausgang wird in 1-Watt-Inkrementen von 0 bis 25 Watt angezeigt. Die POWER-Anzeige ist eine zweistellige grüne LED mit numerischer Anzeige. Beim Einschalten des Generators wird auf der grünen LED der Standardleistungswert von 0 Watt angezeigt.
5.4. DAUER • TIME-ANZEIGE Die TIME-Anzeige ist in Abbildung 5-1E gezeigt. Die TIME-Anzeige ist eine zweistellige grüne LED mit numerischer Anzeige. Beim Einschalten des Generators wird auf der TIME-Anzeige Null angezeigt. Die gewünschte Dauer der Leistungsabgabe kann im READY-Modus durch Drücken der TIME ▲/▼- Tasten (Abb.
5.5. IMPEDANZANZEIGE Die IMPEDANCE-Anzeige ist in Abbildung 5-1K gezeigt. Die IMPEDANCE- Anzeige ist eine vierstellige grüne LED mit numerischer Anzeige. Der Impedanzmessbereich liegt zwischen 100 und 6000 Ohm. Während der Impedanzmessung kann der angezeigte Wert schwanken, da es sich um eine Messung des Kontakts zwischen Katheter und Gewebe handelt.
5.8. FAULT-ANZEIGE Die FAULT-Anzeige ist in Abbildung 5-1H gezeigt. Diese rote LED leuchtet, um auf einen Fehler im System hinzuweisen. Der Fehlercode wird dann auf der IMPEDANCE-Anzeige (Abb. 5-1K) eingeblendet. Es gibt drei Kategorien von Fehlercodes: Fehler im POST-Modus, Fehler im ON-Modus und Fehler beim Selbsttest der CPU-Hardware.
Im ON-Modus (EIN), der dadurch ausgelöst wird, dass der Fußschalter gedrückt und gehalten wird, ist der RF-Ausgang aktiv, der RF-EIN/AUS-Schalter leuchtet grün, die Timeranzeige beginnt bei 0 Sekunden bis zur eingestellten Zeit zu zählen, der Audioton ist EIN und die tatsächliche Leistung und Impedanz werden angezeigt.
SECTION 6: ANSCHLÜSSE 6.1.VOM PATIENTEN ISOLIERTE ANSCHLÜSSE VOM PATIENTEN ISOLIERTER KATHETERANSCHLUSS Der vom Patienten isolierte Katheteranschluss ist in Abbildung 5-1I gezeigt. An diesem Anschluss wird das BMC Katheteranschlusskabel am Generator eingesteckt. Das Katheteranschlusskabel wird gemäß den Anweisungen auf der Packungsbeilage Katheters Katheter angeschlossen.
6.4. SERIELLER ANSCHLUSS Der serielle Anschluss ist in Abbildung 5-2C gezeigt und mit RS-232 gekennzeichnet. An diesen Anschluss dürfen nur die von Baylis Medical Company zugelassenen Zubehörcomputer angeschlossen werden. 6.5. POTENTIALAUSGLEICHSANSCHLUSS Dieser Anschluss (Abbildung 5-2F) ist mit dem Geräterahmen/mit Masse verbunden.
SECTION 7: GEBRAUCHSANWEISUNG 7.1.VOR VERWENDUNG DIE ANWEISUNGEN LESEN Vor Verwendung des Generators oder des Zubehörs müssen die entsprechenden Gebrauchsanweisungen gelesen werden. Es ist sehr wichtig, dass alle Anweisungen zur Verwendung dieser Geräte gelesen, verstanden und befolgt werden. 7.2.EINSTELLUNG DES SPANNUNGSWAHLSCHALTERS PRÜFEN Bitte überprüfen Sie, ob die Einstellungen für die Spannungsauswahl und die Sicherung an die Netzspannung angepasst sind.
Hinweis: Den Generator nahe dem Operationstisch aufstellen. Der Generator kann durch elektrisch isolierten Patientenanschlüsse Aufzeichnungssystemen verbunden werden. 7.5.ELEKTRODE ANSCHLIESSEN Die Elektrode wird in den ERDUNGSELEKTRODENANSCHLUSS (mit RETURN ELECTRODE beschriftet) in dem mit ISOLATED PATIENT CONNECTIONS gekennzeichneten Bereich an der Vorderseite des Generators eingesteckt. Den Elektrodenstecker gerade und fest einstecken.
In diesem Fall muss der Kundendienst der Baylis Medical Company benachrichtigt werden. Der Generator kann NICHT erst betrieben werden, wenn der Selbsttest erfolgreich beendet wird. Datenerfassungsoption: Bei Verwendung eines Computers mit Aufzeichnungssoftware (als Option von Baylis Medical erhältlich) können die bei der Hochfrequenzperforation generierten Messwerte erfasst werden.
7.10. HOCHFREQUENZABGABE Die HF-Abgabe beginnt mit dem einmaligen Drücken der RF ON/OFF-Taste (Abb. 5-1G). Wird die RF ON/OFF-Taste vor Ablauf des Zeitzählers erneut gedrückt, stoppt die HF-Abgabe vorzeitig. Während der HF-Abgabe an den Katheter werden die in SECTION 5: beschriebenen Informationen auf den Anzeigen POWER, IMPEDANCE und TIME angezeigt und die Lampe in der RF ON/OFF-TASTE leuchtet grün.
Steckdose angeschlossen und der Netzschalter (Abb. 5-2A) eingeschaltet ist, ist wahrscheinlich eine Sicherung durchgebrannt. Wenden Sie sich in diesem Fall an Baylis Medical Company. 9.2. HOCHFREQUENZABGABE Für zusätzliche Sicherheit des Patienten sind Spannungs- und Stromausgang des Generators begrenzt. Unter normalen Bedingungen (d.h. bei normalen Patientenimpedanzen) beträgt der maximale Leistungsausgang des Generators 25 Watt. Fall einer ungewöhnlich hohen Impedanz begrenzt Spannungsbegrenzungskreis die maximale Leistungsabgabe. Im Fall einer ungewöhnlich niedrigen Gewebeimpedanz begrenzt der Strombegrenzungskreis die maximale Leistungsabgabe.
