Problems
Blades continue to rotate when
pedal is released.
There is no irrigation.
The irrigation pump starts
spinning excessively, emitting a
loud noise.
The irrigation pump goes on and
off erratically causing abnormal
pressure fluctuations.
There is too much water in the
pressure chamber.
There is insufficient pressure in
the system.
There is insufficient irrigation in
the system.
Potential Causes
There is an electrical problem.
The stop-cock on the sheath or a
clamp is closed, stopping outflow.
There is no more irrigation fluid.
Water may have entered the
pressure sensing line.
An air leak in the line may have
developed.
An irrigation problem exists.
The cannula has been incorrectly
placed in the subcutaneous tissue
or is obstructed.

Possible Solutions
Turn off the unit ("I/O" switch on the
back panel). Wait 1 minute, then
restart the pump.
Check the inflow line from the bags
to the joint. Open any closed clamps
or stop-cocks.
Replace the saline solution bags
and/or check the clamps under the
bags.
Press Fill Chamber if chamber is
lower than 1/3.
Change the One Day Set Irrigation
tube if water has entered the
pressure sensing line. If problem
persists, contact DePuy Mitek
Customer Service.
Check that the luer-lock on the
irrigation and pressure sensing tube
are closed. If necessary, change the
One Day Set Irrigation tube and start
again.
Check the stop-cock on the
arthroscope, and the clamps under
the saline bags and under the
pressure chamber.
Reposition or clean the cannula.
Verify that the arthroscopic sheath
allows sufficient flow. Use High Flow
FMS arthroscopic sheaths.
