Marine aquariums:
pH levels can be increased by increasing the carbonate hardness with JBL CalciuMarin.
Garden pond:
Excessively high pH levels can be stabilised and reduced by increasing the carbonate hardness with
StabiloPond KH.
Instructions:
1. Repeatedly rinse measuring vessel with the water to be tested.
2. Fill measuring vessel with the water to be tested up to the 5 ml mark
(CAUTION: the lower line of the water level must coincide with the marking).
3. Add 4 drops of the reagent, stir briefly and allow to settle for 3 minutes.
4. Compare the resulting colour on white background with the enclosed colour chart and read the corresponding
pH level.
Our tip for the environmentally-friendly users:
All reagents for JBL test sets are available from your retailer as reasonably-priced refill packs!
The instructions are repeated in a series of simple diagrams on the reverse of the colour chart.

pH Test Set 6.0 – 7.6
Special features:
The JBL pH test set 6.0-7.6 can be used for the accurate measurement and routine control of the pH level in
freshwater within the relevant range of 6.0 -7.6, and above all for the control and the optimum adjustment of
CO
-fertilization with the JBL PROFLORA CO

by JBL, precise and reliable results can be obtained even in moderately discoloured water, e.g. caused by peat
filters and disease treatment.
Why test?
The well-being of fish and the growth of aquatic plants depend to a large extent on the pH level being kept as
constant as possible. The pH level plays a significant controlling role in CO
best suited for plants and harmless to fish is reached with a pH level around 6.8 to 7.2, provided that the water
does not contain any other substances which might influence the pH level. The carbonate hardness should not
drop below 4° and not significantly exceed 18° dH. This means that a simple pH measurement is sufficient to
check the best possible CO
for fertilizing, for instance for the breeding of special fish species. The pH test set 6.0 - 7.6 is also suitable in
these cases.
Remedy in case of pH fluctuations:
To lower pH:
CO
fertilization with the JBL PROFLORA CO

To raise pH:
normally not required in freshwater, otherwise with JBL Aquadur plus or JBL pH-Plus.
Instructions:
1. Repeatedly rinse test jars with the water to be tested.
2. Use the enclosed syringe to fill each of the test jars with 5 ml of sample water.
3. Add 3 drops of 6.0 - 7.6 reagent to one of the test jars and mix by shaking.
4. Place both test jars into the comparator block: the jar with added reagent into the smooth end of the comparator
block, the jar with the untreated test water (blank sample) into the notched end of the comparator block.
