Requirements for the installation of the external potenti-
al-free switching contact
„ The external switching contact must be potential-free
and safely isolated from any other voltage.
„ The external switching contact must be designed for a
voltage of 12 V DC with a contact current of approx.
2 mA.
„ The voltage at the signal terminals is low voltage SELV.
Carry out the installation in such a way that the low vol-
tage SELV continues to exist.
„ Do not route the cables to the external switching
contact right next to and not parallel to the power supp-
ly to avoid parasitic coupling.
„ Run both lines parallel over the entire distance.
„ Route both cables away from the highest voltage availa-
ble from the remaining installation.
„ Do not connect any equipment other than the external
switching contact to the signal terminals.
„ You should not exceed a cable length of 30 m. Install a
coupling relay if necessary.
To use the downgrade input, you must install a
conversion kit in the Smart* (S) charging stations.
The conversion kit is available as an accessory
from MENNEKES.
Observe the enclosed installation manual for the con-

version.

DANGER
Risk of explosion from build-up of oxyhydrogen gas when
charging vehicles with gassing batteries!
If vehicles with gassing batteries are charged in enclosed
spaces, there is a risk of explosion due to the build-up of
oxyhydrogen gas.
If vehicles with gassing batteries are to be charged in
enclosed spaces, the following points need to be borne in
mind:
f An adequate ventilation system is to be installed.
f It has to be ensured that the ventilation system func-
tions correctly at all times.
f If the ventilation system fails, charging of gassing batte-
ries has to be blocked.
If vehicles with gassing batteries (lead batteries) will be
charged, the charging column must be configured accor-
dingly.
Vehicles with gassing batteries are rejected in delivery
condition.
Fig. 17: Isolating terminal XT1
Set contact 1 at isolating terminal XT1 according to local
conditions:
A. Contact 1 open: Gassing batteries are not charged.
Operation in closed rooms without ventilation.
B. Contact 1 closed: Gassing batteries are charged.
Operation in closed rooms with ventilation or outdoors.
