5.6.2 Charging of vehicles with gassing batteries

Risk of explosion from build-up of oxyhydrogen gas when
charging vehicles with gassing batteries
If vehicles with gassing batteries are charged in enclosed
spaces, there is a risk of explosion due to the build-up of
oxyhydrogen gas. If vehicles with gassing batteries are to
be charged in enclosed spaces, the following points need
to be borne in mind:
f Install a suitable ventilation system.
f Ensure that the ventilation system is always functional.
f If the ventilation system fails, charging of gassing bat-
teries has to be blocked.
If vehicles with gassing batteries (lead batteries) are to
be charged, the device must be configured accordingly.
Vehicles with gassing batteries are rejected in delivery
condition.

f Set contact (1) at isolating terminal XT1 according to
local conditions:
Contact (1) open: Gassing batteries are not
A charged. Operation in closed rooms without venti-
lation.
Contact (1) closed: Gassing batteries are charged.
B Operation in closed rooms with ventilation or out-
doors.

5.6.3 Voltage supply / supply network connection

Risk of injury from electric shock
Residual current device sensitive to universal currents
(type B) may not installed behind residual current device
sensitive to pulse currents (type A). The type A trigger
function can be affected by type B so that they cannot be
switched off even if fault currents occur.
f Always connect a type B residual current device befor a
type A residual current device.
