Adjusting the Wheel Lock
To change the position of the rear
push the wheel lock forward. Once the rear wheels have been mounted in the new position, the
wheel lock should then be remounted so that when the wheel lock is in the off position, the dis-
tance between the tires and wheel brake block should be mm maximum (subject to technical
changes) (Fig. 60).
Check the tire air pressure and the effectiveness of the locking devices regularly. The air pres-
sure is indicated on the side wall of the tire. It should be at least . bar (0 kPa). Ensure only
original rear wheels with approved radial excursion of a maximum of ± 1 mm are used, in order
to ensure satisfactory braking effect.
Ensure all screws and nuts are firmly re-tightened after making adjustments!
The further back the rear wheel is attached, the longer the wheelbase is and the greater the
wheelchair stability (refer to "Wheelbase Extension").
By attaching the rear wheel in a more forward position (only for trained wheelchair users!), the
maneuverability of the wheelchair increases and the caster wheels can be lifted more easily to
clear obstacles such as curbs or steps.
The wheelchair might tip on even ground if extreme adjustments have been made
(e.g. rear wheels have been fitted in their most forward position) and if the body
has not been appropriately positioned!
Using the anti-tipper is strongly recommended for untrained wheelchair users and
children, and also in the case of extreme rear wheel adjustments.
