4.2 ADAPTING THE CARDAN SHAFT

The Cardan shaft, supplied with the machine, is of standard length.
It might, therefore, be necessary to adapt the cardan shaft. Should
this be the case, before proceeding, consult the Manufacturer.
IMPORTANT
With the machine hitched to the tractor and the parking props
up, check the following:
- When the Cardan shaft is with drawn to the end of its stroke,
(lift or lower the bottom arms of the tractor all the way), the two
pipes should ovelap by at least 15 cm (G, Fig. 16). When it
is inserted all the way, the minimum admissible play is 1 cm
(H, Fig. 16).
- When using the equipment on another tractor, check that
conditions are as stated above and check that the guards
complete ly cover the rotating parts of the Cardan shaft.
ATTENTION
If the above-mentioned checks are not carried out, the vacuum
pump and cardan shaft could break.

CONFIGURATION

To ensure proper penetration into the soil of the seeding units, it
is important to confi gure the level of the seeder in the fi eld, under
normal working conditions.
At the beginning of the fi eld, lower the seeder with the tractor mo-
ving in order to prevent clogging or damage to the shoe coulters.
From the tractor, adjust the height of the lower arms to bring the
frame-draw bar horizontal to the soil. Use the spirit level mounted
forward of the rudder to perform a correct adjustment (L, Fig. 17).
IMPORTANT! During operation, the equipment must always
be perpendicular to the ground (90°, Fig. 15). This condition
can be obtained with the help of a spirit level on the rudder.
