4.1 Transfer
Transferintothewheelchairisdescribedbelow.TheMotusisdesignedforpersonswhonormally
movearoundinthewheelchairindependently.Therefore,theindependenttransferisdescribed.
Shouldyourequireanattendant,thestepsdescribedherearecarriedoutcorrespondinglybut
withsupport.
Maneuverthewheelchairssothattheyarepositionedatanangleofapprox.45°degreesto
eachother(fig.11).Ensurethatthewheellocksdonotgetcaughtineachotherbutremain
freelymovable.Firstactivatethewheellocksofthewheelchairthatiscurrentlyinuse(fig.12).
Thenactivatethewheellocksofthewheelchairyouwanttotransferinto(fig.13).Flipupthe
footplatesoftheMotus(fig.14).Moveyourfeetfromthefootresttothefloorandmoveaheadin
thewheelchairifrequired(fig.15).
Transferintothesecondwheelchair.Themethodillustratedisonepossiblewaytosupportyour-
self(fig.16).Findthemostsuitablepathforyoubypracticingwithanattendant.
