CAUTIOn
Risk of injury as a result of using the footplate for getting into the wheelchair. Ifpossible,thefoot-
platesshouldbeflippedupbeforegettingintooroutofthewheelchair.
Danger while driving
CAUTIOn
Risk of accident when driving without experience.Thiscanleadtofallsandotherdangeroussituations.
Therefore,familiarizeyourselfwiththenewwheelchairbypracticingoneven,straightforwardterrain
first.Gettoknowhowthewheelchairreactswhenthecenterofgravityshifts;forexampleonslopesor
inclinesorwhenclearingobstaclessuchasstepsandcurbs.Thisshouldbedoneonlywithassistance
fromanotherperson.Usingtheanti-tipperisstronglyrecommendedforuntrainedwheelchairusers.
CAUTIOn
Risk of tipping when ascending too steep slopes.Whenascendingslopesorrampsandwhencros-
singobstaclesonupwardslopes,alwaysleanyourupperbodyfarforward.
CAUTIOn
Risk of tilting or tipping over as a result of centre of gravity shifts.Whenreachingforobjectsin
front,tothesideorbehindthewheelchair,donotleanoutofthewheelchairtoofar.
CAUTIOn
Risk of tipping when driving against obstacles (steps,curbs) without braking. Useyourwheelchair
properly.Donot„jump"thechairdownfromhighersurfaces.
CAUTIOn
Risk of accident as a result of incorrect use of the wheel lock. Allbrakesactingonthetiresdonot
serveasoperatingbrakebutareonlydesignedasparkingbrake.Thewheellocksmustnotbeused
asdrivingbrakesforslowingdownthewheelchair,asinextremecases,theabruptstoppingofthe
wheelchaircanleadtofalls.
CAUTIOn
Risk of accident if the wheelchair starts rolling. Engagethewheellockstopreventthewheelchair
frommovingonunevengroundorduringtransfers(e.g.intoacar).
CAUTIOn
Risk of accident as a result of driving in the dark. Inthedark,wearlightclothingorclothingwith
reflectorsinordertoimproveyourvisibility.Ensurethatthereflectorsinstalledonthesidesandrearof
thewheelchairareeasilyvisible.Wealsorecommendinstallinglights.
