Safety instructions

The use of upright gas cylinders from which the gas phase
is taken is mandatory when operating gas pressure regulation
systems, gas devices and gas systems. Gas cylinders from
which gas is taken in the liquid phase (e.g. for fork lifts) must
not be used, since they would result in damage to the gas
system.
If the gas system is leaking or if there is a smell of gas:
extinguish all open flames
open windows and door
close all quick-acting valves and gas cylinders
do not smoke
do not activate any electric switches
ask an expert to inspect the entire system!
All maintenance work and repairs must be carried out by
qualified personnel.
The device must not be operated unless it is in technically
perfect condition.
Have fault repairs carried out immediately. Only repair faults
yourself if the rectification is described in the troubleshoot-
ing guide of this manual.
Guarantee claims, warranty claims and acceptance of liability
will be ruled out in the event of the following:
modifications to the unit (including accessories),
modifications to the exhaust air / exhaust gas system,
failure to use original Truma parts as replacement parts and
accessories,
failure to follow the installation and operating instructions.
It also becomes illegal to use the appliance, and in some
countries this even makes it illegal to use the vehicle.
The gas supply's operating pressure (30 mbar) must be the
same as the unit's operating pressure (see type plate).
Liquid gas systems must comply with the technical and ad-
ministrative regulations of the respective country of use (e.g.
EN 1949 for vehicles in Europe). The national legislation and
regulations (e.g. DVGW Work Sheet G 607 for vehicles in
Germany) must be observed.
In Germany, the gas system must be retested every 2 years by
a liquid gas specialist (DVFG, TÜV, DEKRA). The test must be
confirmed on the respective test certificate (G 607).
The vehicle owner is always responsible for arranging the
inspection.
Flammable liquids and vapours must not be used in the vicin-
ity of the device or be put into storage (e.g. aerosol cans or
fuel canisters).
Do not use the device in locations where flammable vapours
or dust may form, e.g. in the vicinity of fuel stores, coal stores,
wood stores, cereal stores or the like.
Liquid gas equipment may not be used when refueling, in
multi-storey car parks, in garages, or on ferries.
Risk of poisoning! The exhaust gas of the device must
not be allowed to get into a confined space (e.g. awn-
ing) nor must supply air be taken from it.
Only pressure regulating equipment that complies with
EN 12864 (in vehicles) with fixed output pressure of 30 mbar
may be used for the gas system. The flow rate of the pressure
control device must correspond to at least the maximum con-
sumption of all devices installed by the system manufacturer.
We recommend the Truma gas pressure regulation system
MonoControl CS for vehicles and the gas pressure regulation
systems Truma DuoComfort / DuoControl CS for dual-cylinder
gas systems.

At temperatures of around 0 °C and below, the gas pressure
regulation system or the switch valve is operated with the
regulator heater EisEx.
Controller connecting hoses that meet national regulations
must always be used in the respective country for which the
equipment is destined. These hoses must be checked regu-
larly for brittleness. Winter-proof special hoses must always
be used if the equipment is operated during the winter.
Pressure regulating equipment and hoses must be replaced
with new ones no more than 10 years after the date of manu-
facture (every 8 years if used commercially). This is the re-
sponsibility of the operator.
The device must only be operated in a horizontal position.

Important operating notes

The exhaust air / exhaust gas double duct must be checked
for damage and that it is firmly attached at regular intervals,
particularly after long trips, as must the fixing of the exhaust
air / exhaust gas outlet and the device.
The exhaust air / exhaust gas outlet and the air inlet for the
supply air must always be kept free of soiling (slush, ice,
leaves etc.).
Only deionised water (in acc. with VDE 0515 or DIN 45350)
may be used.
The fuel cell system can be operated up to an elevation of
2500 m above sea level.
The device is exclusively for charging 12 V batteries (gel, AGM
or liquid electrolyte).
The capacity of the battery must be at least 80 Ah.
Defective batteries or reduced battery capacity because
of ageing or improper use of the battery (e.g. deep
discharging) can reduce the service life of the VeGA due to
frequent starting.
Other battery types may only be used after prior consultation
with Truma.
Liquid electrolyte batteries need to be placed in a separate
box with ventilation directed to the outside. The gel and AGM
batteries do not need a separate box. Observe the installation
regulations of the battery manufacturer.
Batteries with short circuits may not be charged. There
is a risk of explosion caused by the generated detonat-
ing gas!
The device must not be disconnected from the battery
during operation.

Emergency Stop

The system can be disconnected from the 12 V mains (all poles)
using the Emergency stop connector. The connector is marked
with this sticker on the device.
