material must be always under the protection of
gas flowing from the hose.
3.
Type and diameter of tungsten electrodes - it is
necessary to choose them according to the
values of the current, polarity, type of basic
material and composition of protective gas.
4.
Sharpening of tungsten electrodes - sharpening
the tip of the electrode should be done in tra-
verse/horizontal direction. The tinier the rough-
ness of the surface of the tip is, the calmer the
burning of the el. arc is as well as the greater
durability of the electrode is.
5.
The amount of protective gas - it has to be ad-
justed according to the type of welding or accor-
ding to the size of gas hose. After finishing the
welding gas must flow sufficiently long to pro-
tect material and tungsten electrode against oxi-
dation.
Typical errors of TIG welding and their influence on
the quality of weld
Welding current is too:
Low:
unstable welding arc
High:
damage of the tip of tungsten electrode
causes broken burning of the arc
Errors can be also caused by bad leading of the wel-
ding torch and bad adding of additional material.

Prior to welding

IMPORTANT: before switching on the welder, check
once again that the voltage and frequency of the
power network correspond to the rating plate. Ad-
just the welding current using the panel potentiome-
ter. Adjust the PROCESS switch to the most suitable
position according to the type of welding to be
carried out. Turn on the welder by selecting (pos. 1,
pict. 1) on the supply switch. The green signal light
shows that the welder is switched on and ready to
operate.
The pointing out of any difficulties
and their elimination
The supply line is attributed with the cause of the
most common difficulties. In the case of breakdown,
proceed as follows:
Check the value of the supply voltage.
Check that the power cable is perfectly connec-
ted to the plug and the supply switch.
Check that the power fuses are not burned out
or loose.
Check whether the following are defective:
The switch that supplies the machine.
The plug socket in the wall.
The generator switch.
NOTE: Given the required technical skills necessary
for the repair of the generator, in case of breakdown
we advise you to contact skilled personnel or our
technical service department.
Maintenance
WARNING: Before carrying out any inspection of the
inside of the generator, disconnect the system from
the supply.
In planning of maintenance procedures, the level and
circumstances of the apparatus usage must be taken
into account. Careful handling and preventive main-
tenance helps to avoid unnecessary failures and de-
fects. If required by the apparatus working
conditions, the inspection and maintenance intervals
must be shortened. If the apparatus is used in a very
dusty environment (conduction dust), then such
intervals will be as short as twice a month.
REGULAR MAINTENANCE AND INSPECTIONS
Conduct the inspections according to the relevant
Czech Standard (EN 60974-4.). Before any use of the
apparatus, check the conditions of the welding and
power supply cables. Do not use damaged cables!
Visual inspections include:
Torch, welding current return clamp
Power supply network
Welding circuit
Covers
Controlling and indicating elements
Apparatus condition in general
EVERY HALF A YEAR
Remove the plug from the socket outlet and wait for
two minutes (to allow for discharging of capacitors
inside the apparatus). Then remove the cover of the
apparatus. Clean all internal power supply connec-
tions from dust and dirt. Where they are loose,
tighten them. Clean all internal parts of the
apparatus from dust and dirt using a soft brush of
vacuum cleaner.
NOTE: Be careful when using compressed air in order
to not demage any parts. Never use any solvents or
diluents (such as acetone, etc.); plastic material and
front panel lettering could be damaged in such
procedures. Only sufficiently qualified technicians
(electrical engineers) may repair the apparatus.
PROCEDURE FOR WELDER ASSEMBLY AND DIS-
ASSEMBLY
Proceed as follows:
Unscrew the 2 screws holding the cover.
Proceed the other way round to reassemble the
welder.
