Fitting the parachute

Connect the parachute to the harness
1
The first step is to connect the parachute to the harness. This means that the
parachute bridle and the harness attachment point must be connected. We
recommend using oval carabiners with a minimum breaking load of 2500 kilograms
(>2500 daN). The Maillon Rapide Normal has been proven to have a sufficiently
high breaking load (depending on the diameter).
The bridle and harness attachment point should be secured into place with rubber
O-rings. Close the maillon gate with a spanner. To do this, follow the instructions
of the maillon manufacturer.
Please note: do not overtighten the gate. This could lead to damage to the thread
and may reduce the maillon's breaking load.
Fitting the deployment handle
2
Next, connect the deployment handle to the inner bag. The deployment handle
features two loops of different length. We recommend connecting the shorter
loop on the deployment handle to the sideways loop of the inner bag (which faces
the direction of deployment). Thread the shorter loop on the deployment handle
through the inner bag loop. Then thread the red deployment handle through the
loop to connect the inner bag to the deployment handle.
Pull the deployment handle and the inner bag apart to tighten the lark's foot. The
loop of the deployment handle and the loop of the inner bag should be connected
together without any play.
If the deployment bag does not offer a lateral loop, then the rescuer handle can
also be connected to another inner bag loop. We recommend using a longer loop if
necessary.
Please note: a connection loop that is too long or too short may cause a delay or
even prevent the parachute from deploying. A compatibility check performed by an
expert will eliminate this risk.
3
Installing into the parachute container
The parachute container is fitted horizontally into the inner bag, with the lateral
container loop pointing outwards. The handle must point outwards. If using the
PENTAGON, it is important to ensure that the closed side (the side which does
not open) points upward. This means that the deployment handle is correctly
positioned pointing upwards.
Adjust the rescue container size
4
Checking the compatibility of the parachute and rescue container (first step of the
parachute installation) must be performed during and after fitting the parachute.
The size of the container can be adjusted using the Velcro closer on the back.
If the parachute fits very tightly or it is difficult to push into the container despite
the Velcro being fully open, then the parachute may be too large.
