Adjusting the speed system

The harness is delivered with the speed-bar pre-adjusted. This pre-adjustment
is adapted to NOVA standard risers and an average leg length. This standard
adjustment may need to be changed to suit individual pilot requirements.
The correct length adjustment is important. If the cords are too short, there is the
danger that the wing is constantly accelerated, which should be avoided at all costs.
If the cords are too short there is also the possibility that the speed-bar is
unreachable.
If the cords are set too long, it is not possible to accelerate the wing to its
maximum speed.
We recommend setting the cords a little too long when first adjusting the speed
system, so that the free play can be judged during flight. Then the slack can be
taken up if necessary.
To adjust the length, loosen the cord in the three-holed attachment point of
the carbon speed-bar. Then the length can be easily adjusted to make it longer or
shorter. The white mark should assist to make the adjustments symmetrical.

Optional stirrup

The VENTUS is equipped with tabs which can be used to fit a stirrup. The stirrup
can be fitted to the harness using a screwgate carabiner.

Optional cockpit

The carabiners on the main hang points can be used to secure a cockpit.

Installing the parachute

General
The combination of parachute and harness cannot be standardised: parachutes
vary in volume depending on their size and manner of packing. To accommodate
this, we have made the size of the rescue container on the VENTUS adjustable.
The volume of the parachute must not exceed or be smaller than the maximum
or minimum harness size. Size S = 2.5 – 5.5 litre; size M = 2.5 – 6.0 litre;
size L = 2.5 – 6.5 litre.
For reasons of safety, compatibility checking and parachute installation should be
performed by an expert. We recommend contacting your NOVA Service Partner:

Choosing a parachute
On the VENTUS, the rescue container is located under the seat plate. The
volume of the rescue container can be adjusted using the Velcro fastener. Adjust the
volume so that the parachute is secured, but it is not too tight. On the one hand it
must never move or rotate within the container, but on the other hand it must be
easy to deploy.
Modern parachutes are generally easy to fit in the container. Very large parachutes
(more common in older models) may struggle to fit into the rescue container. If the
parachute fits too tightly, we do not recommend using this combination.
In every case a compatibility check must be performed. This check ensures that the
parachute can be used in conjunction with this harness. If they are incompatible,
another parachute must be selected.
Steerable parachutes
The VENTUS can be fitted with a steerable parachute like the NOVA recommended
BEAMER. This means that the risers of the BEAMER must be connected to the
main parachute connection points. These are located in the neck area and can be
reached by opening the zip on the connection bridle pocket. The connection bridle
should be connected using a screw gate carabiner (min. breaking load 2400 daN).
Use O-rings to secure both straps to avoid displacement.
As with standard parachutes, steerable parachutes also require a compatibility
test. NOVA recommends that this is performed at an approved service centre.
