Water ballast

The VENTUS was not designed to be flown with water ballast. Small amounts (up
to four litres) can be stored in the main storage compartment.
A large ballast bag with loops can be attached to the main hang points. Please
note: check the width of the ballast bag. A ballast container must not be narrower
than the chest strap. Attaching the ballast bag to the hang points also changes
the flying characteristics of the wing.

Schools

This harness is excellent for use in paragliding schools. It is compact, offers a high
degree of passive safety as well as ease of movement on the ground. The radio can
be conveniently stored in the pocket on the chest strap.
In the design we paid particular attention to its groundhandling characteristics.
Thanks to the ergonomically designed leg loops, the VENTUS does not pinch when
walking or running.

Towing

The VENTUS is suitable for towing. For questions on towing please contact your
NOVA partner. Before take off, speak to the winch driver - especially if it is the first
time you have used the winch. It is important to use a tow release.

Acro

With the VENTUS, a limited range of acro manoeuvres can be flown. However,
there is only room for one parachute and having two reserves is recommended for
acro flying.
Pilots who desire additional safety can add an additional front mounted parachute
to the VENTUS. The Y-bridle and the container should be connected to the main
carabiners.

Tandem

The harness is only conditionally suitable for the passenger and not at all for the
pilot of a tandem paraglider.

Care, repair and maintenance

Maintenance

Our harnesses are made from durable materials that can withstand a lot of
usage and stress. However, how the harness is treated is a major factor in its
usable life span. We recommend regularly checking the harness for wear and damaged
stitching or straps.
If you notice any faults, we recommend contacting your NOVA Service Partner
immediately. For repairs, please contact NOVA or a NOVA Service Partner. If
you find any faults in critical structural parts (straps, buckles, hang points) we
recommend you do not use the harness!
Do not modify the harness. For repairs please contact one of our approved service
centres.
At least once a year, the harness should have a full inspection. Check all seams,
straps and buckles. This inspection can be combined with a parachute repack. If you
have deployed the parachute, we recommend inspecting the connecting strap and
hang points. This inspection should be performed by an approved service centre.
Minimise the unnecessary exposure of your harness to UV radiation. Avoid
temperatures below -20˚C and above 60˚C. Protect it from moisture, salt water, acid
or base liquids and treat it well. Look after it and store it as recommended.
The following points are pertinent to its longevity:
• Do not expose the harness to large temperature fluctuations (e.g. in your car).
During long-term storage make sure there is plenty of ventilation and air
circulation (to minimise condensation).
• After landing, pack the harness away quickly. This protects it from harmful UV
rays.
• If the harness is damp, dry it at room temperature either inside or outside in
a shady place. Please note: repack your parachute!
• If the harness comes into contact with salt water, it must be thoroughly cleaned
in fresh water. Then follow the steps described above to dry it.
• In the case of an incident (e.g. a hard scuff or an impact), ask an expert to examine it.
• Only use fresh water and a soft brush to clean the harness.
• Regularly check straps, seams and buckles. These must be undamaged.
