Please note: regardless of how you adjust the harness – it is essential that the adjustments
are symmetric. Asymmetric adjustments can lead to turns and therefore unintended
negative consequences in extreme flight situations.
Before each take off, check that the buckles are securely connected and correctly
fastened. You will know if they are completely closed when you hear the distinctive
'click' sound. Taking off without connecting the buckles can be fatal.
The main hang points as well as the leg-loop buckles are colour-coded. The left side is
red, the right side is green. Many NOVA paraglider risers use the same colour-coding.
This helps to prevent clipping in the wrong way.

Basic settings

1
Shoulder straps
The shoulder straps must be adjusted to suit the height of the pilot. The correct
position is when the strap is loose enough so that it does not press into the shoulder
when the pilot is seated, but it is tight enough to support the pilot.
The length of the strap is completely adjustable. Using the loops located above the
NOVA logos on the shoulder straps they can be extended; using the loops at the
shoulder strap ends they can be shortened. Again, it is essential that both straps
are symmetric.
2
Lumbar straps
The seating position can be adjusted using the lumbar straps. Some pilots prefer
a slightly reclined position, other prefer to sit upright. The most important thing is
that whatever position is selected, the pilot should be comfortable.
Pulling the loops at the ends of the lumbar straps makes the seating position more
upright. Pulling the strap at the buckle end allows a more reclined position. Again,
it is essential that both straps are symmetric.
3
Leg loops
The leg loops connect the pilot to the seat board and therefore to the harness. The
straps should provide enough room for ease of movement on the ground and during
take off. If the leg loops are too tight they may impede walking/running.
The left buckle is coloured red, the right green. This helps to prevent attaching
the buckles the wrong way. A safety strap from the left leg loop creates a fall arrest
system, as the chest strap cannot be closed without connecting this safety strap.
4
Chest strap
The width of the chest strap has a major influence on the flying characteristics
of your paraglider. The wider, the more agile the handling. The tighter, the more
damped. We deliberately don't specify a set distance: the correct chest strap
setting is a question of individual preference. By pulling the adjustment loop, the
strap can be tightened in flight.
