and guide rail.
– Screw the hexagon nuts (5) on again. Tighten the nut
on the drive spindle by means of the single-sided spanner.
For safety reasons, threads of the drive spindle and of
the nut must be free of grease and moisture. Tighten
the nut on the guide rail by hand only.
– Tighten the chain tensioning screw, adjust the appropriate
chain cutter tension (see below) and tighten the locking
nut.
– Tighten the hexagon nut on the guide rail by means
of the single-sided spanner.
– Install the safety guard back in its place.
For replacement of the drive sprocket or the complete
chain cutting tool, proceed as described above.
Tensioning of the chain cutter
Before checking of chain cutter tension, remove the plug
from the mains socket.
The chain cutter is correctly tensioned if it can be lifted
by 4 - 6 mm in the middle of the guide rail.
– If the chain cutter is too tight, loosen the hexagon
nut on the guide rail. Loosen the chain tensioning screw
until the correct tension is achieved.
Excessive tightening of chain cutters overloads the electric
tool and leads to early wear or damage.
– If the chain cutter is too loose, loosen the hexagon nut
on the guide rail. Tighten the chain tensioning screw
until the correct tension is achieved.
Lubrication and maintenance
of the chain cutter
– During work with the chain mortiser:
Switch the electric tool off after every 10 - 15 cutting opera-
tions and spray the complete chain cutting tool with the
chain aerosol. Lubricate the roller bearing (8) by turning
the cap of Stauffer lubricator (9) clockwise, or for groove
cutting tools, put a few drops of oil (SA 4°) into the hole
on the ball bearing. Ball bearing grease (e.g. Texaco
Multifak EP 2, Shell Alvania 2, Mobil Mobilux 2) is
recommended for greasing.
– After working with the chain mortiser:
After use, spray the chain cutter and the guide rail properly
with the chain aerosol.
Regular spraying with the chain aerosol considerably
increases lifetime of the chain cutting tool.
Sharpening of the chain cutters
The chain cutters should only be resharpened by specialized
sharpening services with the appropriate technical
equipment.

Maintenance and care
The chain mortiser requires practically no maintenance.
Lubrication for the antifriction bearings and gears is
designed to last for the service life of the electric tool.
However, it is recommended to remove accumulated dust
and chips regularly by blowing compressed air through
the motor ventilation holes while the motor is running.
All the guide faces are to be kept clean, free from resins
or similar deposits.
The chain mortiser is equipped with the carbon brushes
which allow their wear only to the minimum usable
length. Then the power supply circuit is automatically
interrupted and the electric tool stops running.
Before replacement of the carbon brushes, remove
the plug from the mains socket.
For replacement of the carbon brushes, unscrew the brush
caps (18) and remove old carbon brushes (19). Clean
inside of the brush holders with a dry swab. After insertion
of the new carbon brushes, they must be able to move
easily in their guides. Screw the brush caps back to fix
the carbon brushes in their positions.
Storage
Packed electric tools may be stored in dry unheated
storerooms with temperatures not dropping below –5 °C.
Unpacked electric tools shall be stored only in dry self-con-
tained storerooms with temperatures not dropping below
+5 °C, where sudden temperature changes are prevented.
(Fig. 4)
Recycling
After their service life is ended, submit the electric tool,
its accessories and packages to a disposal premise to allow
reusing of the raw materials.
To allow material-sorted recycling, all plastic components
are marked with relevant symbols.
Repairs and servicing
Repairs in the warranty and post-warranty periods are
carried out by the servicing workshops listed in the index
of addresses.
Guarantee
We guarantee appliances in accordance with statutory /
country-specific regulations (proof of purchase by invoice
or delivery note). Damage attributable to normal wear and
tear, overload or improper handling will be excluded from
the guarantee. In case of complaint please send the
maschine, undismantled, to your dealer or the Service
Centre for electric power tools.
