1. For maximum safety of work with this electric tool,
read this Operating Manual carefully and observe all
the instructions given herein.
2. Follow the safety instructions supplied separately
as a part of delivery with each electric tool.
3. The electric tools shall not be used in damp or wet
locations, outdoors in the presence of rain, fog, snow,
or if there is a risk of fire or explosion.
4. Check the power supply cord and plug before each
use of the electric tool. Have any defect repaired by
a professional service workshop.
5. Remove plug from the mains before performing any
work on the electric tool.
6. Only insert plug in the mains socket when the electric
tool is switched off by the mains switch. Always keep
the power supply cord back away from the electric tool
while working and allow the cord to move freely in the
whole working area to make trouble-free work possible.
7. When working outdoors, use exclusively the extension
cords and cable connectors attested for outdoor use.
8. This electric tool shall always be used with the safety
guard mounted in proper position.
9. Use correctly adjusted and perfectly sharpened chain
cutting tools only. Replace damaged chains cutters
or guide rails immediately.
10. Beware of metal particles in wood coming in contact
with the chain cutters. Danger of damage to cutting
tools or the electric tool.
11. Secure work in a safe position with enough support
for a workpiece and the electric tool.
12. Whenever possible, the electric tool should be connected
to the mains via a fault current circuit breaker (Fl) or
a PRCD safety device.
13. Always keep the power supply cord in a safe distance
from the cutting tool during work.
14. After the work is finished, only put the electric tool
aside after the cutting tool has come to a complete
standstill.
15. Keep hands away from the chip discharge channel.
If the channel is blocked, first the electric tool must
be switched off and allowed to come to a complete

Remaining risks

Even when the electric tool is used properly and all the
relevant safety measures are followed, the following
remaining risks can still occur due to the design of the
electric tool required for the intended working operations:
– contact with the chain cutter in the cutting area;
– injury by the sharp cutting edges during replacement
of cutting tools;
– clothing can be caught by the rotating parts;
– kickback of the electric tool;
– pieces of the workpiece may be thrown away;
– hazards invited by the flexible supply cord;
– even during proper use, risks of some specific accidents
or damages cannot be anticipated.
Operating the electric tool
for a first time
This electric tool is to be connected to AC mains supply.
Check if the actual mains voltage is correct.
Fusing for 230 V: 16 A slow-action fuse or equivalent
automatic circuit breaker.
Use only extension cords with a cross section of
3 x 1,5 mm
, max. 20 m length (3 x 2,5 mm
2
When the electric tool is used outdoors, use only extension
cords intended for outdoor use and so marked.
Connection to a standby unit or generator: minimum
power 5 kVA / 230 V, 50 Hz.
Switch-on procedures cause temporary drops in voltage.
These can affect other tools with unfavourable mains
conditions. No interferences need be feared at mains
impedances below 0,29 ohms.
Assembly of the electric tool
– Place the lateral guide (12) onto the guide arm with
scale and fix it by tightening of the locking lever (13).
– Loosen the hand screws (3) of the safety guard (4)
and remove the safety guard.
– Unscrew the hexagon nuts (5).
– Place the complete chain cutting tool in its position.
The drive sprocket must be turned such that the driving
pin on the spindle of the electric tool engages in the
groove of the drive sprocket.
– Screw the hexagon nuts (5) on again. Tighten the nut
on the drive spindle by means of the single-sided
spanner. Tighten the nut on the guide rail by
hand only.
– Adjust the appropriate chain cutter tension (see the
section „Tensioning of the chain cutter") by means
of the chain tensioning screw (7) and tighten
the locking nut (6).
