7.1. EXTERNAL AIR INTAKE

There MANDATORY be sufficient quantity of air for combustion and re-oxygenation of the room to ensure the device
will work properly. There should therefore be vents letting air in from
outside the building and enabling circulation of air for combustion even
when the doors and windows are closed Picture 18.
• The air intake must be in a position where it cannot be
obstructed.
• The air intake should communicate with the room in which the
device is installed and be protected with a grille.
• Vents may communicate with adjacent rooms but not with
garages, kitchens, bathrooms or boiler rooms.
• Any extractor hoods in the room where the device is installed
must not operate at the same time as this could cause smoke to
enter the room, even with the fireplace's door closed.

For a better comfort and corresponding oxygenation of environment, the combustion air can be directly withdrawn at
* (
the outside through a junction (B1) which is to be connected with a flexible pipe (not furnished)for the external air
intake. The connection pipe must be flat with a minimum diameter of 120mm mod.500 - 100mm mod.800, a maximum
length of 4 m and with no more than 3 bends. If there is a direct connection with the outside it must be endowed with
a special windbreak.

CONNECTION AND MAINTENANCE OF VENTILATION

The control unit and system must be installed and connected by a skilled worker according to regulations in
force (see chap.1).
ATTENTION: the feeding cable must not be in contact with hot parts.
Our fireplaces (mod.500 e 800) can be fitted with ventilation OPTIONAL kits to improve the distribution of heat by
means of ventilation in the room in which the fireplace is installed or of the adjacent room (see chap.7).
Follow the instructions on how to install the OPTIONAL ventilation kit (see chap. 19).
The kit comprises a centrifugal fan, a start-up control unit and a thermostat that starts up the fan when the device is
sufficiently heated and stops it when it is cool.

CONNECTION: Connect the power supply cable of the
control unit to a bipolar switch respecting at least a 3 mm
distance between the contacts (230 V~ 50 Hz power
supply; it is also essential that the system is properly
earthed).
