EXTERNAL AIR INTAKE IN THE INSTALLATION AREA DURING COMBUSTION

To ensure efficient operation of the appliance, it is essential that the place of installation has sufficient air intake for
combustion and for re-oxygenation of the room itself. This means that, by way of dedicated openings communicating
with the outside, combustion air must be able to circulate even when the doors and windows are closed Picture 16 -
Picture 17.
•
The air intake must be positioned in such a way that it cannot be obstructed.
•
It must be communicating with the room in which the appliance is installed and must be protected with a
grille.
•
If the air flow is obtained through openings communicating with the outside of adjacent rooms, do not use
(FORBIDDEN) air intakes in connection with a garage, kitchen, bathroom, or heating plant.

ADMISSIBLE / PROHIBITED FUELS

The admissible fuel is wood logs. Only logs of dried wood may be used (max. water content 20%).
The wood used as fuel must have a moisture content of 20% or less and must be stored in a dry and airy place (for
example, under a roof) for one year at least (soft wood) or two years (hard wood). Damp wood makes lighting more
difficult, as a greater quantity of energy is required to evaporate the water present. The moisture content also has the
disadvantage that, when the temperature lowers, the water condenses first in the hearth and therefore in the chimney.
Fresh wood contains about 60% of H2O and it is therefore not suitable to be burnt.
