CONNECTION TO THE FLUE / AIR FOR COMBUSTION (air intake)

Stiff aluminized steel pipes a minimum of 2 mm in thickness or 316 stainless steel pipes a minimum of 1 mm in
thickness must be connected to the stack.
It is FORBIDDEN to use flexible metal or asbestos cement pipes as they are not entirely safe, being liable to
tear or break and thereby cause smoke to leak out.
The smoke exhaust pipe must be hermetically sealed onto the stack and
can be at a maximum inclination of 45° to avoid exc essive build-up of
condensate produced during the initial start-up phases and/or excessive
build-up of soot, and moreover it avoids slowing down smoke out-flow.
A non-hermetic connection could compromise the device's working order.
The connection pipe's internal diameter must be the same as the external
diameter of the device's smoke stub pipe. This is ensured by using pipes
compliant with DIN 1298.
Depression in the stack should be 14 Pa (mod.400 – 1,4 mm column of
water) - 12 Pa (mod.500/800 - 1,2 mm column of water).
The measurement must always be carried out when the device is hot (rated
thermal performance).
You need to reduce depression when it exceeds 17 Pa (1.7 mm column of
water) by installing an additional draught regulator.
IMPORTANT: Only use metal pipes insulated with proper materials
(fibre insulation coating resistant to temperatures up to 600° C) to
avoid deterioration of the walls or counter-hood.
The space between the upper part, the sides of the device and the hood's
fireproof deflector (at the base of the flue) must be constantly ventilated.
There must therefore be an intake of air from the bottom (intake of fresh air)
and a raised outlet (outlet for hot air).
The air circulation spaces indicated in Picture 16 are the minimum requirements.

This ensures:
Improved safety
Increase in heat created by circulation of air around the device.
ATTENTION: The fireproof plasterboard counter-hood should preferably be fitted with a self-supporting metal frame to
prevent it from weighing too heavily on the aesthetic coating (marble).
The heat vent grating (Picture 17 pos. 6) has to be installed on the upper part of the hood at about 20 cm from the
ceiling. This must always be installed as its function is to release heat collected within the hood (overpressure) out
into the room.
