Draught created by the flue must be sufficient but not excessive.
Too long a flue can feature too large a volume to be heated and can therefore compromise the device's efficiency; to
avoid this, tube the flue all the way up. Too short a section causes decrease in draught.
The flue and metal connection tube must be kept at a suitable distance from any flammable materials or fuel
by means of proper insulation or an air cavity.
System piping or air supply channels must not pass through the same flue. It is also forbidden to create movable or
fixed openings on the same flue for connecting other devices.

5.1. CHIMNEY CAP

Draught in the flue also depends on the chimney cap's suitability.
Therefore if the chimney cap is handcrafted, the output section must be more than double the flue's internal section.
Should it be necessary to exceed the ridge of the roof, the chimney cap must be able to ensure discharge also during
windy weather (Picture 9).
The chimney cap must meet these requirements:
• Have an internal section the same as that of the stack;
• Have a useful output section twice the size as the flue's internal one;
• Be manufactured in such a way as to prevent rain, snow and any other foreign bodies from entering the flue;
•
Be easy to inspect for the purposes of maintenance and cleaning.
