Set-Up
d) Setting the alignment
The alignment designates the position of the wheel level to the driving
direction.
During the drive the tires are pushed apart in the front because of the rolling
friction and this is why they are no longer exactly parallel to the drive direction.
To balance, the wheels of the stationary vehicle can be set, so that they point
slightly inward.
This toe-in effects an improved lateral cornering of the tire and therefore a more
direct response of the steering If a milder response of steering is desired, this can
be achieved accordingly by adjusting a toe-out , i.e. the wheels of the stationary
vehicle point outward.
A trail angle of 0° on the front axis ensures the best driveability on almost any
ground.
A trail angle of more than 3° toe-in or toe-out leads to handling problems and
reduces the speed.
For a rough adjustment of the alignment, the outer steering links can be screwed on the steering plate at two further fastening points.
Doing so will change the Ackerman angle.
Clamping screws for separate wheel alignment of the front wheels are located in the right and left steering link between the steering lever and the steering
plate.
The toe-in of the front wheel must not exceed 4°.
Toe-in
Turn the clamping bolt clockwise.
The track rod gets longer and the wheel is pressed to the
back and outwards.
Setting a toe-in causes the inner side of the tyre to wear
faster.

e) Setting the throttle/brake linkage
Assembly steps 5.18.3 / 5.18.4
With the throttle/brake linkage, two functions are carried out at the same time via two servo steering levers that are at 90° to each other.
Sliding the "carburetor slide" via the throttle linkage, regulates the air supply to the engine.
At the same time, the idle nozzle needle (conical needle of a needle valve) is moved, thus changing the amount of fuel that flows through the carburetor.
If the throttle linkage is moved further than the idle position (mechanical limit stop of the carburetor slide), the servo lever pushes against a spring buffer.
Now the sphere of action of the brake linkage comes to effect, it presses the brake shoes of the disk brake together via an eccentric tappet.
If the brake drags, the brake pads wear off as well as the brake disk. In order to ensure that the brake is completely released, make sure that the brake
control lever is located at a distance of approx. 1 mm between the set collars on the brake rods.
The position of the adjustment rings (the mechanical limit stops) of the stop spring on the throttle linkage and on the brake linkage
must be adjusted to the mechanical limit stops of the carburetor and the disk brakes.
Ensure that in the full throttle position, the brake linkage does not hinder the carburetor throttle controls.
Check the idle position of the carburetor and, if necessary, re-adjust.
A visual check of the carburetor outlet is possible via the air intake opening before attaching the
air filter.
-
If necessary, reset the idle position (approx. 0,7 mm open carburetor outlet), by re-adjusting
the idle speed adjusting screw (= choke limit stop screw).
The idle speed adjusting screw is the small screw underneath the air intake opening.

Toe-out
Turn the clamping bolt anticlockwise.
The track rod gets shorter and the wheel is pressed to the
rear and to the inside.
Setting a toe-out causes the outer side of the tyre to wear
faster.
