Commissioning
During the work, always wear protective goggles, hearing protection, protective gloves
and sturdy working clothes!
Operation of the device
Attention! Do not use the device without protective cover. Check the device for proper
functioning before each use.
Before commissioning the device, check the safety condition of the device, in particular
• the On/Off switch
• the gas lever and the gas lever lock
• the function of the safety mechanisms
• the cutting tools for firm attachment, damages or wear
• the handles for cleanliness and dryness.
Putting on the shoulder belt
Attention! Always use a shoulder belt while working with the device. Always switch off
the device before taking off the shoulder belt.
There is a risk of accidents.
• Put on the shoulder belt.
• Adjust the length of the belt so that the snap hook is about 10cm below the waist.
• Fasten the snap hook to the loop on the operating handle or on the pole tube of the
device.
For gas-powered scythe GB 1/44-23 MS: The device is equipped with a two-shoulder belt with
quick-action connection. Pulling the red cord results in the snap hook being disconnected
from the shoulder belt and the motor scythe being lowered to the ground. Use this option if
a dangerous situation makes it necessary to quickly take off the machine.
Important: Unhinge the device before starting the motor and fasten it to the shoulder
belt while the motor is running.
Starting the motor (cold)
Attention! Never start the motor near the refuelling site.
Important: Before starting the motor, trim the string to 13cm so as not to overload the
motor.
• Place the device on a firm, level surface. Make sure that the cutting head does not
touch any objects nor the floor.
• Put the On/Off-switch (9) to the „On" position.
• Slide the choke lever (15) to the "Choke" position.
• Push the primer pump (1/38=23 / 1/44=21) 3-5 times
