Specific safety directions
• Only use the fuel recommended in the operating instructions. Always use the
instructions found in the section "Fuel and lubricant" in this manual. Only use
gasoline properly mixed with 2-stroke motor oil. Not adhering to these instructions
will lead to permanent damage of the motor and to warranty claims being void.
• Do not smoke while refuelling or operating the device.
• Do not use the device without the muffler and properly installed muffler cover.
• Do not touch the muffler and take care not to let your hands or your body come into
contact with the muffler. Always hold the device with both hands, using thumb and
fingers to fully grip the handle and handle bar.
• Do not use the device if you are in an unstable position or your balance is not secure.
Do not use it with your arms stretched out or only with one hand. Always use both
hands to operate the device, with thumb and fingers fully gripping the handle and
handle bar.
• Do not raise the string head above ground level while the device is in operation.
Otherwise there is a risk of injury.
• Do not use the device continuously for a long period. Take regular breaks in your
work.
• Never start the device in closed or poorly ventilated rooms, as there is a danger that
motor exhaust fumes will be inhaled.
• Do not operate the device while there are other persons or animals in the immediate
vicinity. Make sure you maintain a minimum distance of at least 15 m to other
persons or animals while the device is in operation. Maintain a distance of 30 m
between the running device and other persons or animals while clear-cutting an
area.
• Always pay careful attention! Always pay attention to what you are doing, and use
your common sense. Do not use the device if you are unable to concentrate or not
feeling well. Do not use the device when you are under the influence of alcohol or
medication.
• Only use the device when the protective cover and/or protective hood is installed
and in flawless condition.
• It is not permitted to remove any part of the device or to change or add parts. Not
adhering to these instructions can lead to personal injury or damage to the device,
and to warranty claims being void.
• Do not use the device – either inside or outside - near flammable liquids or gases.
These can cause explosions or fire.
